if the LCD is the same as EVO5/7, then u will notice that the light will be dimmer over time. to keep it from scratches? the speakers wouldn't scratch easily unless u purposely use sharp objects to scratch it. mine only have some unnoticeable minor scratches after using it for 2 years+

QUOTE(MusashiX @ Jan 17 2009, 07:03 AM)
i just bought myself logitech x 230 after reading a staggeringly positive reviews from Amazon UK. Why UK cos these people are a hi fi connoiseur and they have more separates system than the rest of the world. So when it comes to sound system trust the brits.

Cheap, presentable, non invasive (small sized) yet superb sound and neat build quality. Im an audiophile so i have quite a few system at home as benchmark but i find that these small speakers emit a  faboulus sound for my desktop considering the price. Forget sonic gear or ediifier, they look so ahbengs.U can also forget altec lansing or creative cos IMO, they look a bit dodgy but hey, we are all unique.

However, as alternatives, after days of extensive research online and visual inspections at Lowyat plaza, i found that logitech speakers are always neatly designed.  In order to get best value for your $$$, these are the Price range and recommended system for a 2.1.

< RM150 - Logitech x 210 (rm129)
<RM300 - Logitech x 230 ( not 240 cos they sound worse and i mean a distant second than 230 - Rm160)
<Rm400 - Klipsch Promedia GMX (rm399)
<Rm600 - Logitech z 2300 THX (rm500++)

But Why spend more when you can have excellent sound from x 230?  blush.gif they got the bass, nice treble and respectale midrange execution. Stocks in most shop in LYP are running out (they are oold speakers but logitech still produces em cos u know y) so you better hurry if you wanna grab one. drool.gif

You may want to audition them first before buying cos we are all unique in taste. Good luck.

i believe that the sound quality is very subjective, i have auditioned both X-230 and Edifier E3100 before, but i found that E3100 certainly sound much better smile.gif although i do not agree that Edifier look ah beng, i agree about the Sonic Gear part tongue.gif lower end creative and altec lansing are never good to begin with (with ATP3 as an exception). again, those are just my personal opinion smile.gif

LYP shops should carry them
the price difference should not be alot. should be at around RM95 for EVO3 and RM125 for EVO5

Edifier S2.1M/S330 selling for RM295 now (from Singapore S$125) this version WITHOUT the Digital IN.

With that price, the Edifier dethrones the Logitech for that price range. Same all other specs. 6 1/2" woofer etc.
*
wadda? confirm is S330? RM295 is like RM100+ discount from retail price
i will grab one if it's that price! it's even cheaper than C3!!!!

u recommend z2300...? And u call ur self an audiophile...  laugh.gif  shakehead.gif  The highs on this speaker is really lacking.. Bass too boomy.. Bla bla..
Unless u r living in JB or somewhere near SG i dun think its worth getting..  hmm.gif

haha, of course won't be going there to buy
but i am hoping that Malaysian distro will follow suit, slash price to RM295 soon in local market nod.gif
btw, audiophile = music lover, who cares what speakers he likes, as long as he likes the sound from the speakers itself wink.gif i have no comment as well if someone tell me that cap palang speakers sounds better to his ears compared to Edifier S330, sound is subjective biggrin.gif

Yeah I do belive some M'sia distro will bring in the newly priced Edifier.

I saw it with my own eyes when I was in SIN last week.

In fact, I bought the Edifier MP300 Plus 2.1 portable system for S$110 (RM 259) but this includes the super carrying case. I read in the Edifier forums that RM259 RRP but doesn't include the carrying case (USD 10). Since th Edifier forum locked out, I decided to take the opportunity to buy the speaker when I was there instead of LYP.

that's great, S330 is in my to-buy list this year laugh.gif

lol, if u are unsure of what u want, try to go audition urself. for that price range, i would recommend M3300, but if bass is all u want, try VS4121

one secret that i think some of us will thank me later. Buy a reasonably priced speaker system and install yourself SRS Audio Sandbox and you can tweak the sound setting nicely according to your audio need. There you go. Cheapskate way but effective in improving audio quality without spending excessively...so.. you are welcome in advance...and uhh.. if you are reading this thread, then i think you are smart enuff to know where to get Audio Sandbox. happy.gif

meh, tried it, did not like it
there are threads that discussed about this software, and not many like to use it

got some questions...
can tell me where exactly can i get this version of s330? what shop? whats SLS?
*
S330 is available everywhere, but the price is still around RM400+ in Malaysia
SLS should be a shop in Singapore, ditching S330 at SG$125

how much roughly S330D will cost? same price as S330 and drop the price for S330?
*
hopefully they follow Singapore's, slash S330 to RM280 price range, and S330D replaces current S330's price

if u are just going to use it for gaming and movie, then by all means, go for it
but for music ... u are better off with Edifier E3100

S330 used to be selling at RM399 sad.gif
anyway, i think that's the standard price in Malaysia. but in Singapore, they are selling $118, which is way cheaper than RM399 even after conversion. perhaps u might want to wait for a little longer for S330D to reach our shore, and see if the retailers here would follow their singaporean counterparts steps to slash the price of S330 to clear the old stocks
