Yes, my make sure your phone supports band 5 LTE.

I guess my Note 9 has band 5 support.

I wonder if my spare iPhone 5 will connect, seems like possible (checked that mine is GSM model A1429)

Will get a SIM card to test soon.
It is a real pain that only certain TMpoints have it though.

I had the same idea with RedShirt to test signal strength with my phone first. But it seems like my phone wont connect to their 4g without proper apn setting. Does anyone know the proper apn setting for mobile?

Currently on 8Mbps Streamyx with fresh 1yr contract due to speed upgrade before the rm69 price take effect. Unifi mobile speed test on band 5 phone is not bad (10-15Mbps consistently) in my area even though it is not covered at all as shown in TM website. Am I allowed to switch to Unifi Air w/ 2yr contract (and hence terminate the 1yr Streamyx contract)? And if yes, how should I go about convincing them? Don't think TM staff will allow me to switch over since I am not in coverage flex.gif .

i chat after 7pm today.

asked about modem availability. immediately answered to go mobile...../starthere as she only handles business and home.

i asked further; can dealer register?
gets same answer.

i immediately said thank you. goodbye.

I'm a potential re-customer. this is 2nd time over 3 chats in 2 days, that the live agents brushed me off.

oh, that page she referred to - its for customers only.

FYI, unifi air needs to go through live chat @ mobile.unifi.com.my, not unifi.com.my
if u chat with regular unifi portal regarding unifi air, it's high chance tat u'll be diverted to the mobile division.
unifi air is under mobile segment.

you know how stupid is the chat link at bottom of mobile.unifi.com.my?
it leads to support page meant only for active customer.

interested would-be-customer like me gets turned off outright by both manner and unavailability.

alternatively, use the myunifi app to live chat with them, just simply signup with an empty account 1st on their website

Just subscribed to sim only plan. When I first asked at TMPoint, their staff said I cant use phone for hot spot, need to use modem. I plan to use my phone as hot spot and my phone supports band 5. Then I went to another branch to register, the staff asked if I already have modem. I just said I have since some people here said they can use their phone. Other than the sim can't make call, is there any other reason the staff show extra concern on using modem instead of phone?

Got back to office, and I remember my last year ipad also supports band 5 so I put the sim in the ipad instead. So far I can browse and update apps on the ipad, and use it as hot spot too. If there is no restrictions that I should be concerned about and coverage is ok at home, I'm thinking of terminating my current celcom sim for the ipad and use this unifi plan.

Download speed in my office average about 20 - 22 Mbps but upload speed is all over the place. Lol.

I haven’t try to put the sim in my phone, but so far coverage is quite spotty for the ipad. Maybe I can’t terminate my celcom sim for the ipad afterall cause sometimes i use my ipad for waze. Lol.

My house currently using Streamyx 4Mbps (RM140/month). Been asking and waiting for Unifi to be available but nothing. And last week Unifi call and promote this Unifi Air (1 Month Free Trail). RM79/Month and Unlimited.

The speed so far very stable and satisfied
