Hi, newbie coming in here.

I went to register for ASNB at Alliance bank today. The counter lady informed me there are no units/quota available to start subscribing (expected). However they did give me a 12-digit "account number" (?), and said I could use this to register for myASNB and check if any units/quota become available.

But when I try registering for myASNB it asks to choose a fund that I am already subscribed to, which I dont have any, therefore I cant register for myASNB.

So, am I supposed to repeatedly go to the bank to try and successfully subscribe to a fund first before I can start using myASNB?

There is also a "Referral code for Portal registration" field. Where do I get this code?

you need at least a fund to register online, as you already noticed.

now you can goto any agent bank or post office to buy your first fund. note that the minimum is $10, not $100 or more as some would claim. I suggest :
1. ask the bank/post office to try $10 on each ASM1/ASM2/ASM3 see successful or not.
2. if above not successful, try any variable fund at $10. this should easily succeed.
3. If you can't convince them, then normally $100 will do.

referral code is there for future use. right now no purpose. there will be a day when ASN will ask you refer your friends and family to buy their funds. one fine day.....

Oh so that means I subscribe to a variable fund first, use that to register for myASNB and from there I monitor for the fixed funds?

yes, that's what the FA-Q in the first post says. I learned from there. but normally should be able to buy $10 of ASM1, 2, or 3 la.

Hi I am newbie here too.. Which is better place to open account , at the ASB branch or bank? If bank any particular preferred bank?

whichever nearest to you and willing to accept you(r application) unless you're happy to drive all over the place. some will tell you system down, assure you not available to buy, cannot buy small amount of VP, etc.

Huh? How that possible...
Well u can just change to Bumi then... Since yours don't have race information 😋

Try another branch or agent, may be different result?
