I'm looking for a 60cm kitchen sink; the prices vary greatly between brands; some cost RM300, while others cost RM900, but they look and feel the same.

Hi all, anyone got recommendations for contractor for kitchen ONLY?

Looking to do roughly 8 feet linear kitchen + 6-7 feet peninsula with cabinets, and wall cabinets:

- Also include hood and hob
- Double sink woth adjustable tap

My main option is the IKEA metod but looking around for better deals.

Also in terms of hood and hob, and cabinet, which comes first?

Should I get cabinet then only hood and hob or the other way?

Although I didn't install on my own, I'm currently using an Ikea kitchen with a different tabletop. Tabletop depends if you want branded or not. I'm using Silestone and recommend Surfaces Market Sdn Bhd. They offered the best price for the design I was looking for. Workmanship also was good.

You need to install the cabinet first before the tabletop fellow can come and measure. Mine was installed within 1 week as my tabletop was in stock.

Hood and hob first in my opinion. That way the person measuring your cabinet has an idea on the size and placement of the various cabinets.

Hood size is needed as it's part of the kc measurements.
Though usally the size is like 36" but just buy them first for precaution in case it's too big or small.

so meaning to install the hob and hood in the kitchen before buying the cabinets right? I plan to get a portable tabletop hob instead of built-in:

I think portable ones better than built-in as is versatile and I bring it anywhere, even the dining room.

Yes, portable induction cooker helps to free up counter top space for small kitchen especially.

If you just cook occasionally then portable one can be a good option, just store it under cabinet if don't use can have empty counter top for baking and other stuff

Is it alu door with melamine carcasses? or full alu?

also for the cabinet light, where is the best place shall i ask my wireman to put? i think either point A or B below? and what's the height to put? 5ft or slightly more than 5ft so that it can be hidden behind the wall cabinet? and normally where do ppl put the switch for this light? is it in between the wall and bottom cabinet like those power points location in the picture?

thanks

ya i was looking around for this too, and due to the budget i think most likely will go for the horsemen brand as it's the cheapest among all with reasonable quality. should be less than rm300 for 60cm without the taps etc.

Dear sifus,
For quartz tabletop of kitchen cabinet with alu carcass, is it possible to install the quartz (to be placed on top of wooden layer) first, then cut the opening for induction stove later on after the stove is purchased?

Reason is the house will not be occupied at least for the next few years and any induction stove bought now would be obsolete by then.
Reason to install KC now is due to the need to utilise developer-given voucher by certain time.

For space, kitchen cabinet maker says he can leave a space of up to 100cm to cater for stove requirement, which usually doesn't go > 90cm.

No problem. Just that you'll be charged a bit higher later to cut because of transportation, etc.

More important is to have the necessary power points ready.

Our standard material is semi-fix. It's a mix of solid aluminium and ACP for some parts. But you can request for fully aluminium. The door is solid aluminium.
I'm not really sure about the lights though.

Anyone have experience having your fridge right next to the kitchen hob? Or within 2-3 inch away from each other?

Seeking advise if such placement is ok or not as there’s not much space in my kitchen to play with.

Not from experience but from Google:

If they are too close, heat from the stove can make the fridge work harder, making it less energy efficient. Additionally, it can also cause the food in the fridge to spoil faster.

But if you don't cook that often, shouldn't be such a big issue except that when you cook, it'll be quite uncomfortable without the extra elbow room.
