Can anyone explains to me which one is better? Both are priced at RM2999. Is Vostro better than Inspiron? Currently looking at Inspiron cuz of its 15.6" screensize.

Better go for something with 8gb ram or above, 4gb isn't sufficient for next few years..

For current use, 4gb is fine for me. But is the ram upgradeable for this model? hmm.gif

4GB is not sufficient even for basic tasks in W10, should get at least 8GB RAM

Do you have any preferences and requirements? eg display size

2Y Premium Care with Onsite upgrade from 1Y Depot/CCI

After applying coupon, price is within my budget. Thanks ZM Fong

After reading the previous responses :

1) Wanted to check feedback on the Ideapad Slim 5i and specs above? Not many reviews on this model yet. Read commercial / business notebooks are better but they dont offer the specs i am looking for and cost is higher.

2) Many advise to wait for new models. Since the i7-1065G7 is relatively new release, thinking if i should wait. Any idea new models will be for AMD or Intel?

3) Is 512GB enough SSD? Opted to leave 1st hard drive slot as dummy so i can add on later (i assume its possible).

Will be using it for office work, surfing, movies and light gaming

Thanks

I see.. may upgrade the ram later if i bought it.
Maybe an i5 or on par for cpu as well as a dedicated gpu.
Display is fine whether 14 or 15.6 inch, as long as not too heavy for travelling purpose (around 1.7kg is fine).

Sorry for asking since this is the 2nd time I'm buying a laptop in 10 years time.
My loyal Dell N4010 has served me since 2010, so hoping this new one can endure that long too laugh.gif

-take the i5, the i7 doesn't bring any noticeable performance improvements (since it has dGPU)
-in China this model is called 小新15, there are some reviews on it
-there is a Ryzen version in this model, however if you prefer less CPU performance and more GPU performance, my suggestion would be i5+MX350 (25W)
-512GB is enough for many users, of course it depends on your usage

Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R5UP/R3AS +RAM

Nowadays laptops in general won't last long due to mass production and business tactic, 3-5 yrs would be my best bet

Thanks for the feedback ZM Fong !

I havent used AMD notebooks before but quite good feedback on the new Ryzen...you think they will introduce within next 1-2 mths?

CPU performance wise better than i7? If i compare, can i check which AMD chip and GPU would be comparable to the i7-1065G7 and MX350?

Actually I don't have specific preference, just hope.to get a decent laptop that can last long. Have been using Dell but usually lasted < 5 years.

My budget is around RM2.5k, just a normal user using laptop for web browsing, youtube, office work etc. I am ok to pay up to RM3k but I am not sure if it is worth getting a very expensive laptop if they last less than 5 years too. Display size at least 14", perhaps wider is better? 😅

I saw you recommended Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R5UP/R3AS +RAM quite often, is it really good? For brand wise I prefer Dell or Lenovo but I don't really know much anyways.

Hi guys, is it possible to get a decent laptop for work and gaming at a budget of 2.5k? Brand and screen size doesn't matter.

Intended to use it for PUBG, document processing, YouTube and music

unfortunately I have no idea on the launch date

comparing which CPU? U series or H series?

Vega iGPU will not match MX350 in most cases unless power budget is different

For this price bracket there aren't many decent options TBH, Swift 3 is a decent budget option

Can u also recommend laptops around RM3.5k? Is it really better than RM2.5k ones? But they do last almost the same no matter how pricey the laptop is?

RM3.5k you can consider business laptops, wait for Thinkpads with Ryzen 4000 or go for Latitude 5000/7000 series DFO

Think the Ice Lake Core i7-1065G7 should be compared against the Ryzen 5/7 4000 U-series

What is meant "Vega iGPU will not match MX350 in most cases unless power budget is different"?

4500U can kill all Intel U series in multi core load, even 18W vs 25W, except 10710U (which easily beaten by 4600U 25W)

Vega iGPU require enough power budget in order to run decently, however even with unlimited power budget and not limited by thermals, it will not match MX350 25W

Sorry but I'm a bit confused......so you want a laptop for RM3k budget?
