wanna ask sumthin, i dip a some part of my gunpla (the v-fin) into mr thinner, to strip off the paint on those part coz want to repaint it back, after i dip it n took out, then wash with water n lap it to make it dry...i try to fix it to the head (pre-assemble le lebuh kurang),n it kinda loose n need to apply some cement if want to attach it back..so what i want to ask here, is the mr thinner really eat the plastic, n if it does, how to avoid it?i dip that part juz for a few second,kacau2 skit kasi tanggal warna, not dip it for a day....

n one more thing, if i juz apply the surfacer directly to the painted part (means that i don't strip the paint 1st like what i did above)it still can stick well on the surface ke?coz malas le if dia tak lekat kat surface n snang tanggal....

p/s:sory le if my word can confuse u all,hehe....

wow u were lucky ur V fin did not break! Although Mr Thinner was meant for plastic but if u place the plastic in it too long chemical effect will still happen! And when it does it stuff on ur precious V-fin icon_idea.gif may become very easy to break! Just like wat happen to my F91 leg joint!

There is a few way to strip the paint that I read from others forum.

1) Soak the parts into the Windex. Can get at ACE hardware.
2) Use CLOROX (household blenching solution). Leave it overnight and brush off with used toothbrush.
3) Can use Easy Off Bang. Spray on the model and brush is off.

All this won't effect your plastic kits.

water color do you mean arcylic base paint?

normal water color(those for painting on paper) wont stick on plastic...they will crack when its dry
and like lurker said...if your hand are wet...you will transfer all the paint into you hand

Oops... by water i mean Acrylics.... not those poster color ler... lol. Acrylic dry d wont be affected by water... sorry for the misunderstanding. tongue.gif

About stripping paint, if the coating is acrylic, then you should refer here : PaintStrip

About the surfacer, besides enabling secondary layer of paint stick well, it also protects the plastic from harmful chemical reaction resulted from paint like enamel on ABS. That's what I think la haha laugh.gif (am noob too)

You mean the compressor + AB no more? The paasche is an airbrush. RM180 for an AB is consider cheap.

One more thing to ask biggrin.gif, what to do to fix loose joints? I've tried danny choo's method on applying white glue, it works on certain joints though. But i got problem with Wing Zero Custom's Wing. Any ideas/advises?

- put 1st layer wait till dry.. then put 2nd layer.. wait till dry.. the it become tight already.. but still depends on which joint are are you talking about...
