My son will need a new one too next year.

Anyone tried to return CTO product ? Currently using a new T14s Gen4 AMD, really not satisfied with the AMD driver as the issues I faced is similar to what others facing in the AMD community forum and there is no solution up to date.

Highly doubt Lenovo will accept that return as it's not Lenovo's fault, it's AMD's for not providing a fix for this

If it was Lenovo's fault, you may be able to return it

Really regret going for AMD chipset after seeing all the bug and issue faced in the AMD community forum, Intel has far more stable driver even my old trusty Intel laptop does the job easily but not this AMD chipset.

Experienced artifacts, crash and stuttering with OBS studio. Constant video buffering in almost every streaming website, but not YouTube. Many suggested it's the problem with this AMD iGPU in the community forum. It is really affecting my productivity since I used OBS studio all the time. Should have done my in-depth research before buying a AMD laptop since all the hype about AMD chipset is superior to Intel.

Oh, my laptop is a 7840U with 780M iGPU, what specifications do you have there? Initially video encoder was set to Hardware AMD H.264 but the video would stutter and freeze, only manage to record after changing to software x264, but still OBS itself would occasionally crash entirely.

For me, I find the "Software (x.264)" is the better option.

No crashes so far. OBS Studio 30.1.1. Mostly using defaults. I usually re-encode using Handbrake to other format/sizes/etc.

thin lappy usually is hotter due to puny heatsink, when the heat has nowhere to go it will transfer to keypad/touchpad, can be doubled as handwarmer in winter !  sweat.gif  tongue.gif
in Malaysia your palm and finger will be sweaty

for watching movie such as youtube should be fine as it's only using tiny amount of resource, gaming is another heat beast that hard to tame.

Shame that the Ryzen 5 model only has configuration up to 16gb ram. Need to get Ryzen 7 model for 32gb. Getting 32gb ram pushes thus model to rm4.5k. not cheap. At this price I'm thinking maybe add top up to get LOQ with 4060 GPU for 5.5k.

All so expensive.. haiz..

if you game, better get higher end of GPU and gaming model, but these add a lot of cost due to gimmicky RGB and hi refresh rate LCD.
also higher cores amount introduce less stuttering than less cores, if your game can fully utilize it.

thick heat sink as i mentioned before, it helps a lot dissipation also prevent the system going to throttle mode, still you always need laptop cooler, or just support is enough to give the lappy enough space on side/bottom for fan intake

Does anyone know how long the clearance is gonna take sad.gif

Not sure if Lenovo has sent the documents needed for clearance.
It was supposed to be delivered on Monday 22nd but now it's on hold due to pending clearance. I am unavailable next week to receive the package.
