I have invested fully on a 36% risk rating (lump-sum once, and a top-up the following month. In other words, two deposits. Invested since Jan'20 until now. In the black but the returns isn't anything great. Question is, do I keep in the investment, or switch over to SA Simple?

Check your USD performance if it is red 🤦‍♀️ then forget about it 🤦‍♀️ rather than putting into Simple which is underperforming I suggest you to do a flexi portfolio and dump it all in US treasuries instead as you will only pay 0.3% pa while reaping current high USD cash rates and hodl until the Fed rates start cut rates 3times consecutively in the future

Hold up, a further check and it seems that MYR returns is positive (~+130) but my USD returns is in the reds (~-65) ! If I were to liquidate my investment, which one am I getting.... net positive or negative returns?

Of course you get in RM 🤦‍♀️ and you will be getting from the depreciation of RM while the underlying asset in USD is underperforming or a loss that’s why instead of putting in simple just move it to US treasuries under flexible portfolio

Then I guess it is not too bad, so if I can gauge whether this investment suits my investment profile, it is okay to leave it there compared to switching to Simple? Hmmm my dilemma is between the two only, so I am not keen on leaving SA at the moment

u can always switch it to flexible portfolios... decrease your annual fee from 0.8% to 0.3%

Just announced/teased on the Stashaway Flexible webinar: one-fund portfolios in Flexible will incur a flat 0.3% p.a management fees (instead of the 0.8% - 0.2% ladder structure), applicable for each one-fund Flexible portfolios.

Switch to flexi portfolio is the best rather than Simple which converts your money 🤦‍♀️ to US treasuries rather than Simple with depreciating returns

aaaaah okay, thanks for the clarifications. So the idea is to not convert to Simple, but to switch to flexible portfolio! There any issues I might face, like maybe I am gonna get hit with conversion fees or something?

No conversion fees or any fees as it is pure transfer usd to usd portfolio but make sure if you want to save on the management fees make sure the portfolio only has 1 ETFs in it

I can't seem to find what the price is for 2 ETFs in a flexible portfolio. Would it make sense to have 2 different flexible portfolios with a single ETF thereby incurring a 0.3% fee each? Or should you have 2 ETFs in one portfolio and incur > than 0.3%?

what do u mean? if i were you, i can create 2 portfolio, for instance
  • Portfolio A - ETF 123
Deposit Rm300, allocate 99% of my money in the portfolio to that
  • Portfolio B - ETF 456
Deposit Rm1000, allocate 99% of my money in the portfolio to that

Any portfolio more than single ETFs will incurred the normal fees at 0.8% minimum so it makes to have 2 separate portfolios for 2ETFs as it is more efficient in terms of fees at 0.3% fixed

i still have funds in SA, moved into multiple portfolios, each only has one ETF. I can testify that my monthly management fees dropped from 0.8 to 0.3

Either you don't have active SA investments or you are bad at comprehension

How small is small? My drop in Wahed shows -5.76% but actual calculation is 8.29%.
32% of my allocation goes to RHB Islamic Bond Fund and that had dropped the most.

u mean wahed drop 5.7% in a day? that's very bad. i don't think SA with kweb dropped that much in 1 day before (in weeks, yes. not 1 day)

Thank you very much for the link. I kept searching for news on google about it but can't find relevant info. Maybe i didn't use the correct keyword.
Yes that's how much it dropped on that day.
