No amount; you can choose not to invest a single nickel!
*
QUOTE(neverfap @ Aug 24 2019, 11:01 AM)
0 MYR

For deposit, the minimum amount is 1 MYR
*
QUOTE(honsiong @ Aug 24 2019, 11:34 AM)
RM0.

RM1 min deposit.

RM500+ if you want to get dividends from fixed incomes.

Thanks all! Done creating my pofile, and deposited the money thru JomPay. Mentioned that it'll take 1-2 business days for it to be reflected in my account. Yeahhhhh

It's not projection and not sure why it bothers you guys some much!
Unless SA is guaranteed to pay out that projected numbers.

You mean it's NOT projection, or it's ONLY projection?

Created my account/ deposited money on sat (24/8), and just received notification to say they have received the money. Read the thread, and guess this is normal. so another 1-2 days before i start 'investing for my goal'

As I mentioned before, it is not as fast as you think.
It needs one day for deposit acknowledgement and conversion to USD.
It needs another day for buy order and completion.
*
yup yup agreed. so best to do it is, i guess, Wed am? so gets completed by friday, yes?

i sort of agak it will not be the quickest, considering it needs to do the things you said. not like lajadah/choppy sell own items, lol

Based on my experience, manual deposit thru jompay, usually take 2 to 3 working days to complete (I remember reading stashaway will try to convert on same day if fund reach them by 10am)

I just deposited on sun
Monday morning acknowledge and nite in progress and I assume later today will be completed
*
Meaning to say, depo sat/sun wouldn't have matter much, because it requires 2-3 working days to complete?

QUOTE(wildshot_willy @ Aug 27 2019, 11:14 AM)
What I've been through:

1. Sunday evening - Deposit via JomPay.
2. Sunday evening - Drop SA a Whatsapp text.
3. Monday evening - funds received and converted to USD, queue to buy.
4. Tuesday noon - Buy order done.

Quite fast.
*
About the same as my scenario, except that i deposit the money on saturday.

QUOTE(kidmad @ Aug 27 2019, 06:16 PM)
so really there's no proper formula for the % of risk appetite ya? Now the way i setup my SA portfolio it's really base on my need. I think soon i'll do one for gadget purchase & property downpayment as well.

Now doing RM388 weekly for retirement 20%
RM188 for holiday weekly  36%

I'll see how good it goes for a couple of months before deciding further.

1 thing has been bothering me, so i would like to ask opinions on this.

When is the best time to leave SA and to 'reap the reward'? i think it should be the time the goal you set forth is achieved. And then re-invest back SA, with new goals. Sounds okay?

thing is.... investment in SA is not like in FD/ savings, in the sense that the principal is guaranteed, and so is the interest. whereas SA value fluctuates, and returns not guaranteed, and no dividends too.

hope my concern makes sense, and my exit strategy sounds reasonable?

That's the problem with index investing. If market is in bear mode,  your return can drop by 20-30%.  Imagine needing to liquidate at 20-30% discount.
*
that is what bothers me too. we should expect the return to average out over years (peaks and troughs is normal) but when to leave?

The 'total returns' is inclusive of the 'dividends received' or not?

Since we are on the topic of bonds. Is it wiser to go for bond fund/asnb/fd here instead of the lower risk SA profile? Since there will be 30% withholding tax on the dividend anyway.
*
You mean SA is deduct 30% tax on dividend on withdrawal?

First time read my statement, and noticed the 'dividend received'... does this go into calculating the weighted returns %?
