Good sport for all conditions.. whether its for injury recovery or cardio training. I swim 2km three times a week.

That’s 40 laps per session?

Haven't swam in awhile cuz I found a better sport that burns more calories, cycling and I enjoy it far more...

But swimming teaches you discipline with breathing and being smooth and streamline to save and conserve energy. One of my best times in Olympic size pool.

There are some maybe not on Lyn, cuz I got some training from this guy... Same area at the time.

Hes mad slightly over 2.1 - 2.4km in 42, 43 mins...

Took me a year to get that timing... 54mins 2km

Probably can't do it cuz haven't swam in a year..

In the end I gave up cuz the breathing discipline was getting to my head, and the guy I met at the pool is too hard core to even follow...

prefer gulping air putting power down on repetitive cycling strokes instead...and enjoying greenery

That might be a bit too extreme. Is he very toned or just thin build? may end up with marathon runners type of body with that sort of extreme.

P/S For what it's worth, the past participle of swim is swum... not swam... *haven't swum*

On the contrary, I see it as time saving as you don't have to shower at home after that.

I agree it's a bit leceh for females to swim. Modesty and things like that.

but having said that, guys are getting very modest these days too, mostly due to body image problem

yea, I have seen some swimmers that do many laps, but they don't have good body tone strangely. Too much protein lost during extreme calories burn. Marathon runners also like that.

I like swimming. I had back problems in childhood. Doctors advised swimming. I have been swimming for 15 years.
I like to swim in a free style. I have never done this professionally. I swim for myself and my physical form. I can swim every day, sometimes swimming a little less. It is already hard to imagine life without a pool.

It's best for seniors with arthritis.
Younger people can choose more intensive workout.

When I used to do CrossFit, swimming was too easy. This is way professional swimmers spend hours for strength training in the gym and swim with heavy water resistance devices on body.

Hello all pro swimmers here. I couldn't seem to find any thread related to swimming other than this. I'm a total beginner in swimming and I really want to be a better swimmer (also to have better stamina) for my health after MCO ends.

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but I want to learn how to tread water by myself and swim a longer distance. As most of you are experienced swimmers, do you think it's possible for me to do it without an instructor?

Need instructor if u want to swim properly. If you are talented , very fast u pick up. No instructor , no one to correct your strokes.

I think it's possible to learn how to tread water etc without an instructor. But strokes wise, to swim longer distance, need good technique. Need to get basics right, and best to learn with an instructor so someone can correct you

I still don't have confidence to go to water deeper than my shoulders even though i can swim doh.gif . I really want to learn how to tread water to overcome this fear and be truly at ease in water. My freestyle & breaststroke are passable i guess.

What’s the considerable good Timing for 1000m?
I was swimming leisurely last year
47mins for 1800m
1:49/100m sounds good?

I rarely swim nowadays. But last time I incorporated crossfit and I can swim faster, my stroke smoother and feel lighter.

I think modern swim pool all have shoulder height at its deepest part only.

I personally dislike the deep swim pool , can drown if got cramp or accidentally swallow water especially when you do butterfly.
