It's best for seniors with arthritis. Younger people can choose more intensive workout.
When I used to do CrossFit, swimming was too easy. This is way professional swimmers spend hours for strength training in the gym and swim with heavy water resistance devices on body.

Swim is best for elderly. But for me in my 40’s too easy. I prefer weight training and HIIT.

QUOTE(Chrono-Trigger @ Feb 14 2019, 03:46 PM) Hi, Since this is a fitness forum, how many of you swim regularly? It's one of the best exercise there is, but surprisingly not many people talk about it. Hi, Swiming is kinda too easy unless I use some form of water resistent tool for olympic athletes in water. I'm in my 40's. My parents in their 70's swim almost everyday. Due to MCO, they cannot swim these days. Walking is harsh for my mom's knee problems.

QUOTE(Chrono-Trigger @ Feb 10 2021, 05:17 PM) it is not easy for me especially butterfly, half lap already breathless and no energy already. Freestyle and breaststrokes are easy though. I agree. Butterfly not easy. Even though I do CrossFit, I have mobility problems. So there are some things I cannot do, one of them is butterfly unfortunately.

QUOTE(mushigen @ Feb 12 2021, 11:03 AM) Too easy? How many lengths do you do per session? What's your timing per length? I used to have a lap pool with 2 lanes in the house. about 18 meter long.

Continuous swimming in 20 minutes is easy. I'd rather do weight training in fact. The swimming is a good workout, it just depends on ur preference.

QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Feb 15 2021, 10:25 PM) As Mushigen pointed above, if u swim 18meter laps it would not be a surprise if it doesn't push you beyond the aerobic stage. Something equivalent to jogging a few KM. More dedicated swimmers might include anaerobic workouts or swim faster eg averaging 50m/min. Good point. Thanks.
