Hi everyone. I think I will only be free in the month of May 2020. Thinking of going Tokyo vs Hokkaido. Which would be a better place in May?

May?... plan urs far far away possible from Golden Week.

Which do you think should be a better experience, Borderless or Planets? Iinm there are only two types in Team Labs Tokyo right?

Will do Odaiba then. Thanks. nod.gif I'm thinking of doing Arakawa City and Kita City too. Don't want to do the usual Shinjuku, Asakusa, Ueno etc this round.
*
Borderless is a permanent exhibition whereas Planets will finish up next April IIRC.

Planets is shorter and more structured, the experience is pretty immersive as your feet will get wet.
Borderless is longer and less structured meaning more exploring around but no getting wet.

In the end, it's really up to what you want I guess but do Planets first as Borderless will be there in the future.
That's my thought process anyway.

Thanks for your insights bro... will decide on which one to go for. Any way of getting cheap tickets for Team Labs? tongue.gif

For 7-8 days I would concentrate on only one area. Not much time if you would ask me. Personally I would suggest Osaka-Kyoto if this is your first time to Japan. Why? Because you get to see the best of both worlds. nod.gif

Only means you don't like the city that much. For me, each new city I visit in Japan brings me a new experience. Never get tired or bored of it, don't know why. rolleyes.gif

kobe the experience is like I am in KL
osaka, Shibuya the experience is like I am in SG
Kyoto - new feel different place for me like first time visiting this city

Don't know why the first time visit Tokyo I don't feel as happier as I visit Bali for first time. The new ambience of Tokyo is not there. That is like I have visited Tokyo before.

Next time if I visit Bangkok maybe I will get new ambience/experience?

Half cooked slow paced to avoid the boredom completing all inside the itinerary then dunno what to do next. Osaka and kobe alone makes me bored.

I have 1 free day in Shizuoka after the my competition during CNY time, where should I visit? So far I did some research so far what is recommended is Kunōzan Tōshō-gū shrine, Verkehr Museum. Personally I prefer Food and Historical sites. Than shopping or theme park stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Different people have different priorities. What RegentCid meant was your rushed through so many places with so many days, so you didnt see much. I prefer to spend mpre time at a place so that I can fully explore the attractions and need not go back to the same place again in the near future.

Bro, Actually I don't feel rushed seriously. Our itinerary are manageable. 90% of planned itinerary are realized. I stayed at least 1 hour in each place. Even Ueno Park I went there from 12 pm to 4pm. Lucky in my last 4 days in Kyoto otherwise I feel boredom. Maybe because we are in group of 8 then I don't see any feelings attachment to Japan.

Sorry, Osaka and kobe once is enough for me. Tokyo just a connection/transit for me to go to hokkaido in the future. Kyoto will go again but nowhere near future. Sadly, I don't think I miss Japan. Maybe this is because I went there too long(12 days) or my expectation about Japan is too high.

Not about rush, but about completeness. 4 days in Tokyo really barely scratched the surface, over my last 6 trips to Japan I’ve spent more than 3 weeks (in total) in Tokyo itself, and still haven’t seen / smelt / eaten / experienced everything.

But of course you should holiday your own way. If you don’t like Tokyo / Osaka or any other big cities then that’s fine too 😂

Maybe karuizawa? I got no experience there but from google seems doable as day trip. If you willing to go a little further and stay overnight like in Nagano / Niigata / Yamagata areas then I got more personal experience recommendations.
