I bought my flight tickets to japan next year, only to know that it falls on the golden week. So had to start doing my planning right now. Was wondering, if anyone had encountered something like "The physical train ticket is not available on the following dates: 27 Apr-6 May, 10-19 Aug, 28 Dec-6 Jan".
Meaning there will not be any train tickets for Shinkansen Bullet Train? |

I am in Osaka now. It's very cold here but people wear thin clothes whereas in Tokyo I think not as cold as Osaka but people there wear thick clothes. it's very windy in Osaka.
I found people here very friendly than in Malaysia. Only 1-2 people rude. This post has been edited by L.Torreira: Nov 28 2019, 08:47 PM |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 28 2019, 06:08 PM) 4-day itinerary Wow $5400 for 4 days, really daebak...Fares for this tour on the Seven Stars in Kyushu start at a price of ¥630,000 per person (approximately $5,400 USD). I think I will skip this. Then it would be more than enough. You can buy a quite a bit of street food as you go along. So not necessarily everyday you gotta have the same ramen or rice. |

We will just put it as Tokyo people are city people and are therefore trendier with their winter wear compared to those in Osaka. I found people here very friendly than in Malaysia. Only 1-2 people rude. We the gaijins would feel unwelcomed when Japanesse avoid talking to us, most of the times because many of them cant speak English, so they will try to avoid talking to us. |

You mostly will be in non reserve coach. Inside the non reserve coach you will be standing all the way to your destination.....feel like super fast KTM commuter train. Meaning there will not be any train tickets for Shinkansen Bullet Train? If you lucky you might get seat if person infront of you get down on station, but when u leave the seat for toilet, another person will take over your seat. Golden Week is their peak holiday period. If you don't want to crowd with the whole of Japan going on their holidays, I suggest you try change ur travel dates.Meaning there will not be any train tickets for Shinkansen Bullet Train? |

Want to add, planning first week april (probably cherry season) - taking day trip with shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima - do you think we will have problem getting an unreserved seat ? If you lucky you might get seat if person infront of you get down on station, but when u leave the seat for toilet, another person will take over your seat. We will be using Hiroshima Kansai pass (non reserved seat only) My mom is in 70s, so she will need a seat. |

Question about skiing in Japan
For those who have ski-ed in Japan before, do they have both entrance fee and gear rental fee seperately? Say if I already have the gear, do I still need to pay the entrance fee? |

I was looking at this fare and a bit confusedhttps://sapporo-teine.com/snow/lang/en/price.html 1 day pass for adults costs 3900 yen Snow escalator pass cost 1600 yen. Does that mean the 3900 yen mean lift + rental for gear? And 1600 yen is only the lift? Correct me if I am wrong. |
