Shiki Shima start at 10,000 USD per pax.
Now funding in progress, few more years can conquer this train.

I bought my flight tickets to japan next year, only to know that it falls on the golden week. So had to start doing my planning right now. Was wondering, if anyone had encountered something like "The physical train ticket is not available on the following dates: 27 Apr-6 May, 10-19 Aug, 28 Dec-6 Jan".

Meaning there will not be any train tickets for Shinkansen Bullet Train?

I am in Osaka now. It's very cold here but people wear thin clothes whereas in Tokyo I think not as cold as Osaka but people there wear thick clothes. it's very windy in Osaka.

I found people here very friendly than in Malaysia. Only 1-2 people rude.

4-day itinerary
Fares for this tour on the Seven Stars in Kyushu start at a price of ¥630,000 per person (approximately $5,400 USD).

I think I will skip this.  whistling.gif
Then it would be more than enough. You can buy a quite a bit of street food as you go along. So not necessarily everyday you gotta have the same ramen or rice.

Wow $5400 for 4 days, really daebak...

We will just put it as Tokyo people are city people and are therefore trendier with their winter wear compared to those in Osaka.
We the gaijins would feel unwelcomed when Japanesse avoid talking to us, most of the times because many of them cant speak English, so they will try to avoid talking to us. biggrin.gif

You mostly will be in non reserve coach. Inside the non reserve coach you will be standing all the way to your destination.....feel like super fast KTM commuter train.

If you lucky you might get seat if person infront of you get down on station, but when u leave the seat for toilet, another person will take over your seat. biggrin.gif

Golden Week is their peak holiday period. If you don't want to crowd with the whole of Japan going on their holidays, I suggest you try change ur travel dates.

Being polite and courteous is their culture, something that Malaysians forgotten in their chase for money, titles, and positions.

Sad that I'm leaving Japan today after almost 3 weeks starting from the islands of Okinawa (TOMEI-R may beg to differ haha)

Ending the trip off with a bang in the Sakura Lounge which is pretty decent!

Want to add, planning first week april (probably cherry season) - taking day trip with shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima - do you think we will have problem getting an unreserved seat ?

We will be using Hiroshima Kansai pass (non reserved seat only)

My mom is in 70s, so she will need a seat.

Osaka to Hiroshima about 1 hour 25 minute
Unreseved seat coach are unlimited amount ticket, similar to our KTM commuter, one coach can squeeze kaw kaw of people....

Day trip to Hiroshima ?????? Peak Season + one senior citizen....come on man....just cancel that day trip lah.....

Itu buat wayang only because is company policy. If customer ask alot question but didnt buy anything, staff will wait under customer leave and start cursing all the way. HK are super direct, terus cursing infront of you.

That's what i am thinking too. hmm.gif

but I read the internet and thought since we travelling outside the Golden Week (end of April/ early may) we should be fine.

What if we go really early like taking the 6 a.m. train?

Question about skiing in Japan

For those who have ski-ed in Japan before, do they have both entrance fee and gear rental fee seperately?

Say if I already have the gear, do I still need to pay the entrance fee?

Yes, you need to pay for the Lift passes even though you have your own equipment. Entrance fee is already a part of the lift passes.

I was looking at this fare and a bit confused

https://sapporo-teine.com/snow/lang/en/price.html

1 day pass for adults costs 3900 yen
Snow escalator pass cost 1600 yen.

Does that mean the 3900 yen mean lift + rental for gear?
And 1600 yen is only the lift?

Correct me if I am wrong.
