What's the diff between premium and free users?
I had no problems whatsoever using the free version.

Been trying to find answer for this question bout Kansai-Hiroshima Area pass

https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/p...nsai_hiroshima/

There is a detailed guide and exceptions at the bottom of the page
Attached Image

* 5 Separate charges will apply if using carriages / trains that require numbered or liner tickets.
Does it mean it is valid for JR Special Rapid but if the Special rapid service is a numbered or liner I need to pay extra, correct?

this is sample i want to use. the pass for

That pass is for unreserved seating only, in the event that some trains do not have unreserved car, additional charges may apply

Hiroshima is lovely, only stayed a night, would love to go there again someday  laugh.gif

Nice. make sense. The info provided by Japanese is very detailed. Can a bit confusing.

Stay in Kyoto la  bruce.gif

I also plan on doing the same as Chester stay at Osaka travel to Kyoto daily.

I thought doing so can save hassle & time packing and repacking. Furthermore checkout is morning in one hotel and 3 pm in the other hotel. 1/2 day pass already.

depending on how many days u plan to go kyoto
u may think it saves hassle but it's creating more hassle
because u need to wake up so early everyday to maximize the time u got since u need 1 hour each way to and back from kyoto
the train fare surely isn't a problem since it's already saved from the accommodation
it's the time that u need to sacrifice to go back and forth everyday and u can't stay there until it's too late because it's takes an hour to go back

and if you're living in namba area, there is no direct route...u need to transit at a major station in order to reach kyoto or get back home
*
true true.

Another added reason I thought is the sakura forecast for 2020 is not out yet and I am booking the hotel now. So next year I have the flexibility to rearrange my itinerary which date to go to Kyoto to catch full bloom.

But planning to be there quite a while 12 days.

unsure.gif if can fill up all the days.

Shinkasen can be expensive

you can also use JR Limited express or Special Express also quite fast.

Good to know, I will probably do that on my next trip to Fukuoka  smile.gif

By the way on a sidenote, anybody been to Miyajima?
I know the iconic torii gate is sadly currently under construction  sad.gif
Not really interested in going up Mt Misen as well so the question is... still worth it to go Miyajima without these 2 major attractions?
Will be autumn when I visit so at least the leaves will be nice.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey bumping this reply cause can't find the answer as well.

Torii Gate is under renovation until june 2020. Is it still worth the visit there?

There's so much more to see in hiroshima than just that torii gate, I'd say it's worth the detour if you have the time for it

Hiroshima Nuclear Dome, peace park definitely nod.gif going

Just unsure unsure.gif if should take the time to visit Miyajima as will be doing a day trip from Osaka. Getting the Hiroshima Kansai pass, travel partner not keen on staying overnight at Hiroshima.

Fun fact 2: First meal after coming from Japan is chilie pan mee and curry laksa noodle

Costs of food in Japan are affordable. Just buy rice at 7-11. Only 400 yen per meals. In UK I don't think can find meals around that price.

But EU & UK food portion comes in XXL.

Hey i read Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway and Maya Ropeway/Cable is different.

Both going up on the same mountain but different parts. The Nunobiki has the Herb Garden while the Maya Ropeway is harder to access but has night service on weekends.

Anybody been on it? Which one is better or should we go both biggrin.gif

You mostly will be in non reserve coach. Inside the non reserve coach you will be standing all the way to your destination.....feel like super fast KTM commuter train.

If you lucky you might get seat if person infront of you get down on station, but when u leave the seat for toilet, another person will take over your seat.  biggrin.gif

Want to add, planning first week april (probably cherry season) - taking day trip with shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima - do you think we will have problem getting an unreserved seat ?

We will be using Hiroshima Kansai pass (non reserved seat only)

My mom is in 70s, so she will need a seat.

Osaka to Hiroshima about 1 hour 25 minute
Unreseved seat coach are unlimited amount ticket, similar to our KTM commuter, one coach can squeeze kaw kaw of people....

Day trip to Hiroshima ??????  Peak Season + one senior citizen....come on man....just cancel that day trip lah.....
focus inside Osaka Saja lah

That's what i am thinking too. hmm.gif

but I read the internet and thought since we travelling outside the Golden Week (end of April/ early may) we should be fine.

What if we go really early like taking the 6 a.m. train?

I went there in 2018 and yes its very crowded with old Japanese people, if that's not a problem with you I think its worth it. I missed the peak cherry blossom season by few days and theres only some tree with flowers left but even then I still think it was worth it going all the way here. I hiked from Shimo Senbon(lower) to Naka Senbon(middle) area and spent few hours hanami-ing with random strangers there. buses are available on cherry blossom season and there's a ropeway too, but it was not working when I was there. If you are with family I would avoid the hiking trail, its not hard but isn't suitable for people with family.

Yes I read on tripdavisor the ropeway was down for a period in 2018

woah even after peak cherry blossom season a lots of people smile.gif

I will be travelling with elderly. So have to take either the ropeway or take the bus to Naka Senbon (middle). Better check the ropeway status before i go.

I found this website good to check cherry peak season

Hey, I read that if I purchase rail passes in Japan I can only buy one only. So I can't purchase two passes for the same person.

i am okay with that. but can I still buy like , i.e.

for the same person.
one Hiroshima Kansai JR pass
one kansai Thru Pass
one Osaka Amazing pass

I know its bit more expensive purchasing in Japan but i like flexibility. TQ
