There's so much more to see in hiroshima than just that torii gate, I'd say it's worth the detour if you have the time for it
Hiroshima Nuclear Dome, peace park definitely Just unsure

QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 22 2019, 11:15 AM) At least yours has no gender tag, so still OK la kan. Look at my case with female tag but maybe only 2/10 got my gender correct. It's alright, lets just live an alternate role on the forum I'm always a dude on LYN. By the way, for this trip I like Nagasaki, Yufuin and Beppu (the room and hot bath), not really the Hell Tour. QUOTE(alvinfks78 @ Nov 26 2019, 10:22 AM) Hiroshima Nuclear Dome, peace park definitely Even without the torii gate, Miyajima is lovely for its island vibe and sunsetsJust unsure To make it worth your time, you can make a detour to Iwakuni for Kintai bridge, or rabbit island before going to Miyajima in the afternoon for sunset |

QUOTE(alvinfks78 @ Nov 26 2019, 09:28 AM) Hey bumping this reply cause can't find the answer as well. We decided to skip Miyajima this time as I really wanted to see the torii gate so we're gonna have to make a trip back sometime in the future.Torii Gate is under renovation until june 2020. Is it still worth the visit there? https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3401.html Hiroshima though, definitely worth a visit and one of our fav cities not only becasue of the Peace Musuem but generally the crowd levels and calmness of the area. |

QUOTE(alvinfks78 @ Nov 26 2019, 05:15 PM) Very detalied review and summary How long did it take you to plan the trip? it was done very well. General outline can easily be done within 1 month, basically just list down the attraction point (very easy to find online), have a general idea which areas are the spot located in. The rest of 2 months are just fine tuning and to be efficient. Then there are certain thing where luck are involved. 1. Hotel in Osaka, I picked that branch solely because they having promo and it's relatively near to Osaka station. Only found out about the shopping street later. Ramen shop just show up on google map and we saw the long queue and decided to try our luck. 2. USJ, I do refer to the crowd prediction calendar but have mixed info on how crowded or empty it can be. So happened it is a good day for me. 3. Locker availability in Demachiyanagi Station, I know there are locker available in station but didn't know whether it will be occupied. I was worried to the point that I even found Airbnb style of locker storage apps (ecbo cloak) as backup plan. Basically it show a list of shops that willing keep your luggage for a fees. 4. Airbnb nearby Toji temple and fall on 21st which has flea market? Pure coincidence. I've booked the airbnb way before i found out about the flea market. Half of the restaurant I didn't do any research at all. Just walk around and refer google map. Last thing regarding waking up early, being early bird do helped a lot in this trip. My usual alarm for work is 6am Malaysia time. So waking up 6am in Japan is like 7am Malaysia time for me and I have not much problem waking up by then. Breakfast start at 7am in hotel and I'm good to go. This post has been edited by scchan107: Nov 26 2019, 06:48 PM |

Tokyo today is 9 degrees in the morning with strong wind. Freezing.
Visited ueno Park, sensoji temple, meiji Jingu, takeshita Street, meiji Jingu gaien, nezu shrine, shibuya hachiko, caretta shiodome, sumida River, Tokyo tower. Frankly speaking Tokyo metro subway is easier than Singapore mrt line. I don't find it hard to find the places rather than I was in Singapore. Nice spot: ueno Park(afternoon) , meiji Jingu gaien (night) , sumida River (night). This post has been edited by L.Torreira: Nov 26 2019, 10:12 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Hello.
Anyone knows whether JR Kansai West Pass can use for JR Expressway bus to Arima Onsen? or the JR Kansai West Pass included local JR bus only? I couldnt find much information on it. What is the best way to Arima Onsen? |

No, I was actually staying in a hotel just beside Shijo Station, makes getting around the 4 directions quite easy. |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 27 2019, 08:32 AM) Bro.. Tokyo' main metro is divided into so many lines and u find it easier to navigate compare to Singapore's?? Not that much expensive when compared to EU & US. It depends on your home currency also of course.Nowadays I don't bother with maps anymore, rather relying on good old Google maps to navigate the trains and walking destinations. Japan is really an expensive holiday destination tbh, many somehow I keep going back. Just like many of those here. You just need good planning transportation wise and have your meals in decent places that costs less than ¥1000 per meal. Stay in Airbnbs to help with the costs, we just prefer hotels due to the convenience of luggage forwarding and breakfast. Now that I've done Tokyo, Nikko, Fuji 5 Lakes, Kofu, Kinosaki Onsen, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Okayama, Himeji, Hiroshima & Okinawa, think I'll take a break next year especially with Olympics. 2021 seems like a good year to visit the lesser known areas of Japan. Kyushu or Tohoku maybe. This post has been edited by Monya Meow Meow: Nov 27 2019, 09:01 AM |

Left cloudy Osaka to a rainy Tokyo this morning.
The weather in Tokyo now looks... shockingly bad and wet. |
