First time visiting Japan? I can foresee your trip is gonna be a hectic one. Mostly touch and go as you have very limited time.

do you need to change the actual pass from counter? If yes, the counter opens at 8am. so if your aiming on early train to hakone then exchange it 1 day earlier.

and also hakone pass can get a discount for the entrance fees for some of the attraction. just show them and ask if got discount or not.

wow, sakura season

if you aim shopping in tokyo, you need carry those stuff to hakone, kyoto & osaka, then back to tokyo shocking.gif

for my personal suggestion, why don't put kyoto & osaka first, tokyo in the last?
because tokyo is your return flight, and a lot of stuff can buy in tokyo

kyoto look like 1.5 days only, feel not enough....

As others have mention its gonna be hectic and you waste time checking in and out of hotel as you need to carry your luggage around. Unless you just back pack. Also if possible try staying in either Osaka or Kyoto and travel via shinkansen since you already have JR pass.

Looks doable if you didn't put in what are the places you want to visit. Once you put in what are the places you planning to go, then you'll know if it's going to be hectic.

For 29 March, just check in at Osaka instead and make a day trip to Kyoto.

Hard to comment until you enrich it a bit with the places you plan to go. For example your 2 days Tokyo, how many attractions are you planning to visit? For a quick comparison, my wife and I have spent ~20 days in Tokyo over 6 visits and still haven't covered all the places the city (and surrounding areas) has to offer.

I think so too. Our 16 day trip to Tokyo this May, we are staying at Yotsuya (near Shinjuku), try to visit as many places in and around Tokyo and make a few day trips to Hakone/Mt Fuji, Kamakura and Enoshima. More relax this way, I think.

If tickets and accommodations yet to buy, better stick with Tokyo OR Osaka only. Just Tokyo area you can take weeks to cover. Same goes to Osaka.

Hi, I would to try waterbus cruise at Asakusa, but I don't really know how to best plan this part of day trip.

So far I have come out with this plan from first place visit to last in a day trip:
1. Sensoji Temple
2. Asakusa Shrine
3. Nakamise Street (Lunch)
4. Asakusa Station - Waterbus
5. Odaiba Seaside Park - Drop here?
6. Fuji TV - visit maybe?
7. Hamarikyu Garden
8. Tsukiji Market
9. Imperial Palace
10. Imperial East Garden
11. Yasukuni Shrine

Feels like cramping alot in a day... doable? or is there better way to rearrange this day trip.

Lesser known areas? Not sure what you want to see. But in my last trip, I enjoyed going to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. Consider visiting other areas like Yokohama, Kichijyoji (which has sight seeing and specialty shops to visit), Shimokitazawa, Ningyocho, Nakano (there's Mandarake if you like figurines and stuffs) etc.

As for Hamarikyu Gardens - not sure if you'll want to purposely make a trip there just for the garden. But if you're planning to visit Tsukiji's outer market as well, you can take the Water Bus from Asakusa pier. Buy ticket to go to Hamarikyu Gardens. Get off there and enjoy the garden, and from there you can walk to Tsukiji wink.gif killing 2 birds with 1 stone. It's about 10min walk to Tsukiji market.

Nakano seems like an amazing place to look around. Definitely will allocate a full day here. Kichijoji might be a bit too far sweat.gif

Anybody knows some cool calming places? Thus far I only discovered the riverside in Uji. I could just sit there for hours looking at the river and ducks.

One day? Good luck. Unless you are just planning to passby the place. Doubt you can do it.

You can do Sensoji, Asakusa and Nakamise in one go since it's the same place. Water bus you need to check the timing. If you want to take the space ship version Hotaluna or Himiko then you can buy thru their website.

Fuji TV, from my experience is nothing much to see but you can easily waste 1 hour there.

Tsukiji market as in the outer touristy part or the market at Toyosu? If the outer market, better go on another day. Just focus Asakusa and Odaiba. You can easily spend the whole day at Odaiba and still have things not covered.

If one day you want to cover all 11, I say to you "best of luck"

Hi sifus

Any recommended hotel about RM500-600/night suitable for couple and a 4yo kid in tokyo for 6 nights? from limited research, it seems to me shinjuku or shibuya area is good.

can those "semi-double bed" in APA hotels fit average size couple and a 4yo?

Thanks.

Semi double is smaller than double/queen size bed. And APA hotel is well known for small coffin like room.

If you specifically looking at SHinjuku and Shibuya, you will get mostly small hotel with your budget. Even if you get that value, it might be far away from the center. As for APA, me and wife stayed there just nice. If you add a 4yo for 6 nights, might be a bit of stretch. Furthermore most probably you do not even have space to put your luggage.
