QUOTE(deodorant @ Feb 24 2019, 05:46 PM) For now mar22 first bloom mar29 full bloom. You need to pray that there is no strong wind / rain those few days before you arrive because a big storm will wipe everything out. If conditions are calm then 1st April still will be very nice, trees will be mostly pink and the petals starting to drop so it's like raining petals (hanafubuki) I did not expect it to be this early tho. I took this at Arashiyama on the 2nd week of April 2017..Was hoping to get shots like this at Sewaritei or some other places.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « On another topic, any recommendation on places to go/eat in Tokyo? not really interested in temples. preferably lesser known areas since i looked around major attractions. below are among the places i've been to last time. Shinjuku gyoen/yoyogi park, kabukizo, golden gai. Shibuya crossroad, hachiko, metropolitan building, takeshita, harajuku Akihabara, ameya yokocho, sugamo(really, really like the rikugien park) Ginza(high class shopping area..), Tsukiji outer market. kabukiza, daiba oedo onsen. Nihombashi, Sakura-dori. Hamarikyu Gardens worth visiting? |

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Feb 25 2019, 10:20 AM) Lesser known areas? Not sure what you want to see. But in my last trip, I enjoyed going to the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. Consider visiting other areas like Yokohama, Kichijyoji (which has sight seeing and specialty shops to visit), Shimokitazawa, Ningyocho, Nakano (there's Mandarake if you like figurines and stuffs) etc. As for Hamarikyu Gardens - not sure if you'll want to purposely make a trip there just for the garden. But if you're planning to visit Tsukiji's outer market as well, you can take the Water Bus from Asakusa pier. Buy ticket to go to Hamarikyu Gardens. Get off there and enjoy the garden, and from there you can walk to Tsukiji Anybody knows some cool calming places? Thus far I only discovered the riverside in Uji. I could just sit there for hours looking at the river and ducks. |

I'm staying around Nishinari ward. roughly RM80+ per night for a 2 person apartment. Osaka is still far cheaper compared to Tokyo and Kyoto.
..and yes, Airbnb. Also true about the weekend for Kyoto. Last time i was in Arashiyama there were like ~60 students cleaning up the river. Then again, this year its much colder than 2 years back on this date.. ...also there were a carriage full of students when when i was on the shinkansen to osaka earlier today. |
