1st one you only got 11 minute to switch departure platform at Osaka Station.
If you got big trolley bag....you need start doing your exercise workout now. biggrin.gif

2nd one are impossible. due to 8 minute switching platform time.

Both also risky....if you miss it, you need overnight at Osaka Station until next 5.30am morning train.

HI,

I'm going to Kyoto on 23 oct, would like to ask is it worth to purchase the Sagano romantic train (in Arashiyama) around that period. Because I wonder got foliage at that time, or just all green leaves.

If you want to view the autumn colours at its peak in Kyoto, you should go between mid to end November actually..judging from past few years foliage reports..

yeah knowing the foliage season is around mid to end Nov, but no choice the oct ticket price is attractive so just bought october.

So does that mean the whole mountain will be green leaves? if it is, maybe not so worth to buy the Sagano sightseeing train tickets..

hello

im going to Osaka this coming Nov

expected to touchdown at Kansai Airport at 8:10am

Day 1 (Wed)

~ ~ ~
After getting off, will exchange JR pass and then off to Nagoya (just wanted to go to shirakawago day trip on Day 2 ) - RM494 by buying 5 Day JR Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass <-- mainly to round trip osaka and nagoya

i Can use Hikari or Kodama bullet? trains to travel between Osaka - Nagoya, Nagoya - Osaka (journey around 3-4 hours)

Or there is better alternatives? what about below (journey 1 hour only)

I googled hyperdia, osaka to nagoya on nozomi shinkansen take about RM254.00 (reserved seat) per person per way

Nagoya to Osaka on Nozomi Shinkansen take about RM254.00 (reserved seat) per person per way (can pre purchase outside japan in advance? or buy return ticket ?)

Day 2 (Thurs)
~ ~ ~
Book 8am -7:10pm tour from nagoya to shirakawago
Tour ends at Nagoya Station <-- is this same as Nozomi shinkansen station ?

Take train back to Osaka
-Nagoya to Osaka on Nozomi Shinkansen take about RM254.00 (reserved seat) per person per way

Day 3 (Fri)
~ ~ ~
Universal Studio

Day 4 (Sat)
~ ~ ~
-Shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima in morning, back to osaka at night (mainly to see peace memorial and A-Bomb dome)
RM 536.00 JR pass to cover return fare, cheaper than buying tickets

Day 5 (Sun)
~ ~ ~
- Day trip to kyoto from Osaka

Day 6 (Mon)
~ ~ ~
Day trip around Osaka
Fly back to Malaysia

Would like suggestion especially on the osaka nagoya, nagoya - osaka

Thank you very much

Is didi quite widely available in Osaka and Kyoto already? From some reading apparently so. It's even displayed in Google maps navigation.

You may want to do some searching on that, maybe even YouTube.

I was in Kyoto around that date last year. Only some foliage starting to change colour, still a lot of green. Peak period is mid November.

I'm going to Osaka in January which is next cny. Are 6 days 5 nights enough for an Osaka - Kyoto trip? If going to Osaka alone I afraid spending 6 days there will be quite bored exploring 1 city only.
*
You can use Osaka as your base to explore the nearby cities/towns - Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Himeji, etc.
Of course, it also depends what you enjoy doing because some people can utilise many days in Osaka (shopping, USJ, etc.) while others who prefer more nature and culture may find Osaka boring.

last train from KIX to Kyoto via Osaka Station is safer bet (Immigration Clearance Upon Arrival under 30min + baggage collection 30min) but if u know well about each station layout you might able to catch the last train to kyoto via other route..

Thanks guys for your comments ! appreciate much smile.gif

Next thought would be.. since I would be reaching kyoto station via limousine bus around 12am - 1am.. I think, for me to move on to my hotel at mitsui garden, would by via taxi or walk only right? train services would have stopped already.. sad.gif anyone knows roughly how much would the taxi fares be like?

Est. 3000 Yen if taking Taxi.
If you are alone or couple, I suggest you walk. Japan are very safe even at midnight.

You can try walk, Kyoto is surprisingly well planned for pedestrian alongside kamokawa (the long historical river that you see on rightside of the map that links to the former palace, Emperor of Japan use for Hanami back on Edo Period, this was also why so many cherry blossom tree there)

I think you are going on November if I am not mistaken? November month will be having good weather, not too hot and not too cold.

In my Kyoto trip on early March year 2016. It was Plum blossom season, I mostly walk throughout my trip because the view was too good for me to keep walking, not to mention a friendly old lady that works as traffic guide that I met, I even walk from

1) Kyoto University to Arashiyama (12km) I did it, i just treat this as some kind of scenery walking marathon lol. It took me like 4 hours because I also visited Kitano Tenmagu and grabbed some lunch in Kura Sushi near that temple area.

2) Nijo to Kyoto station (4-6km)

3) Kyoto University to Gion and Kiyomizu dera (4km)

AND the best I don't feel tired at all, especially number 2 and number 3.

I really enjoyed walking in Japan that is so pedestrian-friendly, not only Kyoto. I had been walked in Sapporo, Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura and many more, either alone or with some partner. I sincerely hope that Malaysia could become a place that are pedestrian-friendly and well planned, at least a walk-able city is one of the criteria to become first world.

Thanks for reading.
