Hi, I have decided to go to Osaka, and will cover Kyoto, Nara, and probably Kobe as well

1) For train pass, where is the best place to purchase them after I arrive there? Plan go get the 4-days pass... Currently I have PASMO card (given by my bro who went there in January) and it works like touch n go card right?

2) Any telco provider recommended for a week usage there? Just need to have internet data to browse Google maps, FB etc.. and where can i purchase them

Thanks

i don't think u can purchase them or pre-purchase them
because the moment u arrive(i assume u use airasia), all the counters will be closed
and depending where would u go 1st
if you're heading to osaka 1st, thn the pass u can purchase will only be those that are able to pickup at osaka, not at airport
if you're heading to kyoto 1st, u can actually buy the bus pass(provided u take enough bus ride each day) but you'll need to pick it up at the kyoto tourist information center(which have a limited operating hour)

so for me, i did not have any plan of purchasing any pass at all simply because i can't even pick it up at any time of my trip

Hi thanks,
My flight arriving at 08.45am in KIX, so should be able to purchase right?

I am torn between:

1) JR West Kansai Area Pass (4 days ¥6500)
- from what I understand, I can use this pass from airport to board 'Haruka' train to Namba, which i think is very convenient. I read that JR also has quite a wide network station so it will be much easier for first timer like me, and it covers some Rapid line too (not sure what tis is)

2) Kansai Thru Pass (3 days ¥5200)
- this pass looks like it covers most of the rail line in Osaka, except for JR line. However it only cover for 3 days and I do not want to fork extra for another day pass. Will this pass can be use to & from KIX too? Or i will need to board other train to Namba?

but since i can't have any pass, i end up did not research too much on the pass
partly because it's too many as well laugh.gif

Not recommend unless your parent will play all those rides.
Entrance ticket are expensive and food inside Disney are expensive.

Not many rides are suitable for your elderly parents at Disneyland tbh. You parents will have to battle the crazy crowds, expensive entrance fee, outdoor weather for a whole long day waiting for you to queue and go on the rides.

Thanks. Will skip it!

If you're only gonna spend time in Kyoto, Osaka & Nara then no pass pays off for you.
Just use your IC card will suffice.

Actually do u need the passes? These are actually quite expensive. If you only plan to visit a few places in a day, it's not worth it.

I guess most would recommend the prepaid card (pay as you use) instead aka ICOCA

Not sure if I need it but the unlimited ride seems like quite a good deal
We will visit mainly the usual tourist places, might use the Osaka Amazing Pass as it includes the admission fee as well

So if visiting Kyoto/Kobe/Nara/USJ, it is better to use the prepaid card? My trip is 7 days, 1 day allocated for USJ and 1 day for departure to KUL, so 5 days to spend visiting places around Kansai..

You should list down all the normal fares for your itinerary first. Then compare it with passes and see whether it's worth or not.

The common trap ppl fall into is they try very hard to make full use of those passes, but making themself inconvenient in the process.

If you are planning to go for the main attractions around Osaka, the Amazing Pass offers best value for admission and subway/bus trips. 100% worth it and recommended.
