They mention in their official website that it will not support android box, means that they didn't allow Unifi Play TV to play on TV. I have try using Airplay to push the video from my iPhone to Apple TV but they block it. It can only using mirror mode which it is not full screen on the TV.

Sure this is possible but not practical. You normally sit on couch which is quite far from your TV. Cable is messy and difficult for you to change channel without remote.
I hope TM can explain why they stop provide STB box cause most people still use TV to watch live channel. Mobile apps is good but as an alternative for people watch live tv on the move.

I remember that one user mentioned if want to use new STB, have to buy it from TM or renew the contract. So it all depends on TM.

it is true the mirroring does not get u full screen.

above is exactly the same when it comes to astrogo app.
however, there are boxes can do both of them nicely.
this has something to do with the firmware of the box.
some can install direct from playstore, auto update too.
some need to sideload, update manually new versions.
some need work on the box itself to hide root, etc.

specific models from himedia, minix, shieldtv, mibox are reported to be capable but there may be others.

Do you mean that even when you subscribe to Ultimate pack, they also don’t supply the STB anymore?
Unifi PlayTv doesn’t get to watch all the channels as the STB.

Very inconvenient for older non-tech savvy folks if no STB.

unifi@play tv dispear at google playstore & apple store. CS told me, unifi@playtv in maintenance. next week tm will be announcement bout new apps for change unifi@play tv.

not sure if my eyes are playing tricks or if unifi has actually improved their stream quality due to new customers now not getting STB's.

i seem to see better quality streams on playtv app.

those "HD" streams now appear more like 576/720 to me when they were more like 360/480 previously.

so, good for new users using the app.

1 march 2019, channel 238 "now华剧台" got removed. Most probably that hanky panky TM want to squeeze $.

Yes, increased bitrate from 3-4 mbps to 5-6 mbps, almost as good as Itunes movies. STB still ahead (8-9 mbps) but not far behind.



Fox channels also removed from PlayTV app. Probably expired license (to broadcast on app), STB still got Fox channels.

guess maybe due to low viewership of that channel since SD content and old legacy drama

What's the latest playtv app version? I see APKPure has the latest version I think.

My box and tablet app installed from playstore, auto update, both now showing 7.9.5.

Apad version, not Aphone.

But incompatible devices or devices on androidtv do not auto update, u need to do manually.

And yes, quality better now, many hd in 720.
