Possibly AstroGo picks up some kind of identity via the HDMI interface and it's HDMI driver can't deal with it.

If you still have root on the tx3 mini, you can change a few lines in the build.prop to fake your txbox as a Sony TV.

So for typical use

AstroGo, Unifi_TV, netflix, HK drama streaming

occasional 1080p jack sparow movie with HDMI passthrough to amplifier (playback via usb drive)

I will stream via direct Ethernet LAN.

tx3 mini vs max has only one diff - mini does not have bluetooth; max has.

if u want hdmi audio passthru for dd/dd+/dts, both can do with kodi player.

if u want hdmi audio passthru for dd/dd+/dts/ddtruehd/dtshdma + auto framerate switching with kodi player, get the max.

astrogo, playtv - both can do.

netflix, both are L3, can do SD only.

TX3mini cost RM10x, TX3max cost rm13x.

if u want ALL of the above incl Netflix HD, get a ShieldTV at rm800-1000.

Shield TV can play astro go?

Yesterday im trying connect my tx mini in my bedroom to my tv at the living room.. Suddenly my tv box setting all over again like the first tyme buying the box..
After that i take the box back to my bedroom and the box make a magic, working again like normal on astro go.. Very weird box

Maybe i can try copy your trick buy a composite signal cable tomorrow and see if it was cause the problem

between after u change one of your box into composite signal cable everthing work normal untill now? even after restart the box still can open astro go like normal.. can u send me the picture of your composite signal cable

what are L3? I need to pay extra Rm700 to get netflix HD version?

That sound very ridiculous intentional limitation. Got any box that have all the above yet still got HD netflix, doesnt cost an arm & leg?

L1, L3 are classifications of google certification to allow or disallow certain things.
Netflix HD/4k requires L1; w/o it, u get SD quality.
Most 4K smart TV's come with L1, i.e. netflix HD/4k ready - hence many people do NOT need L1 box for netflix.
Other than ShieldTV, u can get Mibox s for rm300 or so but this one CANNOT do astrogo smoothly.
There are boxes that claim to be L1 but are more like fake, temp only... it loses L1 after a while.

tx3mini is >2 years old; max came soon after.
in the beginning, tx3mini was android7.1 with "traditional" UI, no BT.
max came with BT, "Alice" UI (which is better), android7.1
from the official tanix website, above is still same.

over time, model variations came out... mini, mini-A, mini-L, etc.
and many firmware updates came out, some could be used on mini or max, some cannot..
pretty confusing... some 7.1, some 8.1, Alice, no Alice...
i can only speculate that the OEMs and sellers play around with the firmwares before they sell.
the hardware is the same except maybe the outer casing.
my own unit was a tx3mini 7.1 but i upgraded it myself to tx3max 7.1 Alice.

to be sure, ask the seller(s) the specific impt questions before u buy:

.. 2+16gb?
.. android 7.1 or 8.1?
.. firmware version?
.. Alice UI or ?
.. option to close root?
.. can run astrogo, playtv?
.. BT?
.. price?

of course, assuming all else in order.
there was a case reported 8.1 but doesn't have root close option, astrogo won't work.
likely fixed now.

imo, tx3mini/max as we know it today is the highest value box one can buy.
i won't hesitate to recommend it to any new user or as a second box!

tx6 appears to have better specs but uses a different chipset, allwinner, which has overheating issues reported.

better u google for more info.

when buying box, do not just look at specs; look for users reviews and comments - i trust this more.

a lot depends on manufacturer firmware and updates as well as hardware quality.
