Anyone install ASTRO On The Go Tx6 box?

My AOTG it say not compatible.

Some help please....

works fine on tx3max... and i m sure same for tx3mini, tx5max.

tx6... should work too if root closed.

for astro go app, i m not sure if there is any diff between tx6 2+16gb and apparently a variation tx6 mini 1+8gb.

the tx3 max software is not stable on my mini. astro go got pause every few seconds and crash twice. and the whole box even stop responding, had to switch off and on the power supply. not sure it's the app issue or the software, but one thing is for sure that before this the app was running smooth

gonna have to flash back to the actual mini software.

the one i used, tx3max 20181101 is fine for both current astro go and unifi playtv.

one diff i noticed... this tx3max firmware takes a bit longer for internet connection.

if u rush it, it will crash, shows error.

once it is connected, all OK.

buy direct from china using aliexpress , lastime i bought around RM120

this week i notice that my utube needs to be upgrade to new one , btw playtv i manage to watch tv1 and tv2 only ,astro never try hahaha

i notice my version dont have superuser option at more settings

not sure but i think yr box firmware is a tad too old.

my tx3 mini-A came with 2018 firmware, has superuser option.

astrogo, unifi playtv all OK.

recently, i upgraded to tx3max firmware - even better - all works good, got bluetooth working as well.

but i am reluctant to encourage u to do same... quite a bit of work... and risk... u may brick it for good if not careful.

Guys currently using TX3 mini in living hall at the same time fixed mibox 4 at my parents room.

my father keep saying the one at living room is not good(like the same app running on mibox does not hang or force shutdown itself).

So now im thinking of getting another android box. Any sifu's here for suggestion?

Mi box s? Since ur father used to xiaomi and prefer it...i oso gave my father use mi box 3 international version....no complaint for him as he only watch youtube....and i must admit Mi box color display is a lot superior than tx 3 mini.

Tx 3 mini win in terms of Astro go compatible.....nothing outstanding except this.... But all around performance with best bang of bucks.

could be due to better wifi reception for one, worse for the other... tx3 only 2.4ghz, the other has 2.4/5ghz... and distance, obstacles...
try using LAN cable and see if still same.
i have used tx3mini/max for some months now, ok... no hanging or shutdown.
tx3 has 16gb storage, better than mibox's 8gb - this will be impt when u install more apps or big apps.

as for new box... that depends how much u willing to spend.... rm100, 300, 500, 1000...
and what u want it to do.

my tx3 mini wifi reception is superb though only 2.4ghz, never encounter reduction in speed (maybe due to my fibre just 30mbps), i can speedtest and run 25mbps min both upload and download speed on wifi connection, no obvious drop in speed compared to Lan connection. Infact my mecool m8s max wifi speed is very unstable, 5ghz can run but not too far from router, 2.4ghz wifi almost cannot use , exprience lagging in all iptv apps, only able to run well with lan connection....don know is case by case only or not.

i didn't mean tx3 wifi 2.4ghz is no good!
it all depends how far the distance, obstacles, in condo or house.
most highrise, too many users, 2.4ghz is bad while 5ghz wud b better.

my house, tx3 2.4ghz is good for up to 50ft, diff floor, no problem.
tx5 with ext antenna on 5ghz is even stronger.
but at certain dead spots, both are weak.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I have tried LAN cable and also the wifi router is just right beside the android box.

Hmm..I find it weird though on why it hangs compared to mibox does not have issues.

could be very old firmware...?

can u check what version it is?

i will experience hang oso when open too many apps and didn't quit it, only press the home button and open another apps....especially astro go apps.....but after i learn the pattern of the box i only open 1 apps at 1 time.

also, the standby mode which didn't turn off completely the tx3 mini, i experience lagging also, i have change it to shutdown....only open the tx3 mini when i need to watch astro go.

I have the exact problem but after flashing to tx3 max firmware it was a complete different story. Smooth and good.

that is one of the worst practices when using a box. if u keep doing that, 16/128gb will not be enough!!

and yes, best to shutdown to close off everything than put on standby.
can u just go into settings and find what version?

that will tell if it is too old or a proven good version, if something else is wrong.

if a year ago, it shouldn't be too old.

about firmware upgrade, u can read back... some need not do it...

some upgraded to tx3max firmware... some ran into problems... some like upgrade x but some others preferred y... seems mixed results.

my own experience was not too easy - took me quite a bit of work.

one other possibility is to simply get a new tx3max 2/16gb... think i gave u the seller link.

for rm12x or something like that and not 1k, it saves u all the headaches...
