Singapore scientists discover virus strain linked to a type of cancer Cantonese speakers are 20 times more likely to get

The most common type of head and neck cancer in Singapore has been linked by scientists to a unique strain of the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV).
EBV-infected individuals from the Cantonese dialect group are 20 times more at risk of developing nasopharyngeal carcinoma – otherwise called Cantonese cancer – than people from other regions or populations, the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) said.

The Insurance co cannot simply impose a new exclusion if you have not made a claims against them.

However they can change or impose any new terms & conditions if you have made a claim and it is a yearly renewal policy.

Haven't claim anything from them because of the rejected GL request. I'm hoping if there is a new TnC, they should send me a copy and highlights the changes.

Question is, where is your agent ? shouldn't you be asking for his/her assistance ?

He did follow up, received mssg from him on the rejection and an apology about it. But I feel he also was subjected to the Claim Dept's final decision. I have no idea what else he can do. He thinks it was rejected because the diagnosis might be related to my pre-existing condition.

So far no reply yet from them, but I just want to settle this confusion for future peace of mind.

Thank you so much for your advice.

Edit: Smy quote doesn't seems to work

Rejecting a GL because of the diagnosis might be related to Pre-Ex is really an amateur claims job. You have a strong case because both diagnosis and procedure are not the same.

Since you have already used your other cashless card, you would not be able to claim unless you want to transfer the cost from the other insurer.

Yes, you can add in the medical card back. Smart Medic Extra + Smart Externder and with some top up of premium -recommended (RM50-100/month). If no agent representative then you need to walk in to office to fill up forms and sign.

Hi speedo. You can add the medical card rider back to your existing plan.

1. If budget allows, go for
[SmartMedic Xtra 200 + SmartMedic Enhancer 200 + Smart Extender]

2. or cheaper alternative
[SmartMedic Xtra 200 + Smart Extender] OR
[SmartMedic Xtra 150 + SmartExtender]

SmartMedic Xtra & SmartMedic Enhancer brochure

If you don't agree to it, you may choose to maintain the same premium you're paying now, but your policy will lapse faster.

mind to share what does it means "lapse" faster ? meaning the insurance not longer valid ?

Means your insurance benefits will no longer be available to you.

your policy sustainability will reduce. meaning to say policy will lapse earlier. in layman term, "lapse" is when premium paid + cash value is not able to cover insurance charges anymore thus policy will not be valid anymore.

There is no revision of premium as highlighted by LIAM

It’s just a change in structure of how insurance premium is being allocated within the first 10 years instead of 6 years.

Thanks alot, guys, I did some quick Google search earlier but couldn't get relevant results. And not sure with how insurance works to be feeling confident of what I've read so far in relevance to the info I got from my agent.

But to be clear, if I have yet to sign up for this MLTA and life insurance that I'm still reviewing, is it gonna affect my premiums since it's new and not ongoing?

Thanks again.
