Afaik, fast . com is owned by Netflix and is used to speedtest video-streaming. Most low-end 4G phone plans limit video-streaming speed, eg can't get 4k/2160p/25Mbps video-streaming speed that is needed for large >54" TVs or 29" monitors. This may also apply to low-end 5G phone plans when the 5G Trial period ends.
.

Umobile 5G can get 190Mbps speed on fast.com so means it did not limit video streaming speed.
Sometime even can get 600mbps speed on speedtest, so I think is routing unstable

well, with a logging dns I see it connects to ipv4-c002-szb001-umobile-isp.1.oca.nflxvideo.net (and others)
so, maybe local?

still, with
speedtest to speedtest/nperf, directly to isp server

speedtest to netflix, you have to go out and route to netflix's server

so it would be a more realistic result that speedtest.com since it's actually connecting outside of isp's own network

It is fair because everything beyond the telco network is no longer controlled by telco.

Unless Netflix host server in UM else not fair to measure that way …

Depends on which network you're asking. As for me, I am running on GX38 @ 12Mbps - UMobile.

Sadly they don't seem to like GX users to make use of 5G. 5G, atleast in my use, just wont throttle above 6 Mbps unless it drops to 4G+. You do hav ean option to switch plan via app, but it is not worthy.

The new Umobile plan has these 3 main prepaid offers ... U25, U35 and U40 which all has a FUP of ard 100GB (mind you the previous plan did not have this). U25 despite costing RM25, the validity is stopped at 25 days ... even when you try to outsmart them by buying plans through Shopee or smtg, the validity still follows the Money. Same for U35. U40 is just added Hotspot benefits. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

Honestly speaking they just don't treat loyal customers well.

After 25 days, you can reload rm5 through shopee right? So that validity extends by 5 days

Yes, but that defeats the purpose of U25 right? You offer a plan that itself won't withstand to its validity. By right we could have just make use of RM30 .. Imagine topping up repeatedly for 10 months and you'll have RM50 just doing nothing with only 5 days validity per month.

Even sad to say that despite their '5G' offerings, you will be slapped with a 100GB FUP on U35 and U40 which throttles the speed to mere 1 Mbps speed or something. At this point it defeats the purpose of giving 5G since it gobbles up 10 gb atleast per hour use.

U25 is even on a much poor league. With an FUP of 30GB, calculate how long it takes for it to deplete. My GX38, though not catered for 5G is still standing strong. Just hope they would consider GX users to benefit from 5G too.

EDIT:

Telco D has an interesting way. Lets say you paid/subscribe to their Unlimited15 plan. When you buy the plan itself the validity of the reload is also extended a month. Which is fantastic for Budget users. If only they had better coverage in my area I would have taken them.

Prepaid generally has more affordable packages than postpaid, unless you are using it for roaming purposes.

Afaik, if freedom to change celco like this, now you can no longer buy the old prepaid 4G unlimited plans, eg can no longer buy U GX38 or GX30, ie can only buy the new prepaid 5G plans which often have less benefits or are more expensive, eg U U25 and U40.

Afaik, you can remain on the old postpaid 4G unlimited plans, eg U GX68, for as long as you desire, ie new postpaid customers have to buy the new postpaid 5G unlimited plans which often have less benefits or are more expensive.

Postpaid subscibers may get service priority over prepaid subscribers bc of being loyal customers, eg the former can still get decent Internet data service during peak traffic hours.
.
.

Of course, after 2 to 3 years of technology maturity and customer saturation, the celcos' new 5G plans may improve to get better benefits and cheaper than the old 4G plans. .......

P S - I am a satisfied U GX50 subscriber since Jan 2019 till now, using the same 4G mobile device. As a casual 4G mobile user, I did not need the unlimited speed of GX68 in 2020.

Thanks for the head up. i am currently with digi postpaid 60. thinking to switch telco because digi is charging rm 10 a month for 5g coverage next month. I don't need unlimited data, even now with 80gb a month i also struggle to utilize it.
