Q: good day umobile i am currently on umobile postpaid 38. I'd like to know more about the hotspot usage. Does it mean the 5gb hotspot cap no longer apply? Is this offer a permanent 1? Thank you.

A: For Hotspot, you will still get 5GB hotspot data as usual and after you have utilised the hotspot data, you will be able to use the Hotspot Unlock and the data will be used from your main data bucket. For Hotspot Unlock, please stay tune as we will announce when our existing U Postpaid plan customers will be able to use this new function

FYI

At this point with my current data usage I might just consider moving to Postpaid 38, would be cheaper and uncap my speeds

my primary line is a maxis one share 48, unlimited data but stuck at 4g make me a bit upset when umobile has 5g lol

If you're satisfied with what you're using, just stay where you are. Maxis will definitely be getting 5G after the review of DNB is completed by the government, and it's probably just a month away or two.

Trust me, there's really no point to port out just for 5G, after all it's just plain curiosity and initial wow factor from speedtests, you'll realize there's nothing special about it once you're using it daily.

If you're really curious, just get a prepaid SIM pack to test out or ask people around you that's using U Mobile.

how's Umobile coverage in penang and kl recently? especially indoor
*
In KL not as good as DiGi and Maxis. Better than Celcom

But worse comes still got maxis 2G backup, even 3G non data in some areas for calls

Celcom was horrible the 7 days I tried them 😂😂😂 basically couldn’t use anywhere I needed it, but lightning fast at home where I have Wi-Fi

Umobile is no longer using Maxis 2G network, instead using Celcom 2G network

Guys.. Would like to get some clarifications. Prepaid I understand there isn't any contract to it. Clear cut

What about postpaid? I'm planning to take rm40 postpaid plan. But unsure if there's any contract or not.

I give few examples where I went with celcom in my 7 days with them that had zero signal, not even 2G

KLCC Marks & Spencer

Sunway Pyramid Uniqlo

Sunway Pyramid prefered parking, couldn't pay for parking in phone

The land border reclaimed land area in Melaka

Hilton Melaka

Jalan Ipoh KL, one hospital there but forgot the name.

I had no issues with umobile in these places.

I am with sadlyfalways,
I have Yoodo, Celcom Xpax (yes I know they are both same company) and Umobile.

In Location A (will not disclose area): Indoor
Signal wise, both Yoodo & Celcom can attain full bar.
However Speed wise, noticebly Umobile (at night) seems to edge out ahead of Yoodo. Doesnt matter if it was Celcom either.

Location B, this is where it makes the difference.
Indoor: Celcom signal is pretty much flaky. Sometimes I get the B28 band (which helps gets the full bar), sometimes I dont. And it drops the signal to zero.
Whereas Umobile indoor, gets 3 bars of signal on Band 3. Speed wise, for indoor, Umobile wins this round despite the slower speed.
If I stand just outside my house, then yes, it improves the Celcom signal (and speed) substantially.

I've reported to Celcom side and they claim my Location B is kinda congested, so they 'promise' to look into it, lets hope for improvement after that.
I'm guessing maybe my house is on the "dead coverage" zone of Celcom.

For the indoor area, usually the management has installed an indoor antenna to expand the coverage inside the building. Mostly are Band 3 or 7
