QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Sep 14 2020, 12:23 AM) Curious about this too, but can safely assume no one in this thread is using a 5G phone, because no one responded even though it has been brought up earlier.Still considering if I should get a prepaid SIM just to test out their 5G at Berjaya Times Square, apparently it's just a consumer trial that will end on the end of December. QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Sep 14 2020, 10:02 AM) No problem, will update here after trying it. QUOTE(JLA @ Sep 14 2020, 10:13 AM) U mobile in-building demo 5G 3.5Ghz spectrum I dont think will penetrating building and house. it for show only. Coverage count by meter not kilometer. The real one is 5G with 4G speed 700mhz spectrum It's only available in level LG, G, 1, 2 and 3 if I'm not wrong. It's a trial after all, not expecting the coverage to be much wide either within the mall. QUOTE(mitodna @ Sep 14 2020, 07:10 PM) Probably need a software update to enable it in the future, even Samsung doesn't work either according to some sites. So far the only confirmed 5G phones that support it is from Huawei. Currently at Berjaya Times Square, my P40 can't connect to 5G.
Apparently the staff said I have to use for more than 1-2 weeks in order for 5G to be activated as the SIM is still new, this wasn't even stated in their FAQ. Conclusion, U Mobile wasted my time. This post has been edited by xperiaDROID: Sep 17 2020, 03:26 PM |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Sep 17 2020, 04:20 PM) what BS they talking... Yeah, I also felt that it's just a BS excuse when apparently their network isn't even ready yet.why needed to wait 1 or 2 weeks?? the system really not ready... because if really ready 5G... sure sim would detect asap... not after 1 or 2 weeks... I'll probably go again after a week or two if I have time but I wouldn't have high hopes on it again. |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Sep 17 2020, 05:37 PM) Sure, will do. QUOTE(lurkingaround @ Sep 17 2020, 06:19 PM) . Thanks, just noticed that, will try again maybe after couple more weeks just in case. Its FAQ states that new SIM cards will only be activated within a week.. ....... https://www.u.com.my/support/selfhelp/faqs/74/6028 Do I need to change/upgrade to a 5G SIM card? All U Mobile SIM cards are 5G-ready. You do not need to change your SIM card. If you are a new subscriber or have just replaced a new SIM card, your 5G network will activated within a week. . QUOTE(reoz @ Apr 17 2021, 09:33 PM) yes. you cant directly port in as esim. Wow, didn't know there are charges for switching to esim after successful port in, u need to visit umobile centre (not authorised dealer) to get a sim replacement and pay RM 10. they will give you a card which is your esim QR code. also you need wifi while scanning that code. But thank you for the explanation. |

QUOTE(reoz @ Apr 18 2021, 10:49 PM) Haha, got a little shocked when the staff said RM 10.60 for eSim that day...But the experience was quite seamless QUOTE(tancyew @ Apr 20 2021, 06:06 PM) hi guys, how is umobile speed and coverage lately? thinking of signing the contract with them for phone. im in klang valley I ported in to U Mobile from Celcom recently, I was surprised that their coverage improved quite a lot, speed is decent too. However, there may be some areas where the network is a little spotty (eg: full bar 4G+ but video keeps loading for a little while). But overall, I feel U Mobile is more stable than Celcom from where I live and usually go, I'm in Klang Valley too. This post has been edited by xperiaDROID: Apr 20 2021, 08:14 PM |

Any sifus here know if a phone still doesn't support VoLTE on a telco network, which side is responsible to solve this, the telco or the manufacturer?
There are two ppl that I know are using TCL Plex on U Mobile, but they still can't enable VoLTE yet. They tried contacting U Mobile, but CS told them to contact TCL instead, and then when they contact TCL, the CS said awaiting response from software department and then no reply from CS after 1 month. Funny thing is that I heard other TCL Plex users on Unifi Mobile and Digi can get VoLTE, but not on U Mobile. This post has been edited by xperiaDROID: Jan 22 2022, 05:06 PM |

QUOTE(belons @ Feb 23 2022, 12:07 PM) They've got a new cheap prepaid plan, u25 but discounted to 20. 3mbps and unlimited call to all network. Theres also u35 with 6mbps, same unlimited call to all network. Bot also marketed as "5g ready". If I'm not wrong, they could be forcing current users to get the new "5G Prepaid Pack" first in order to sub to the new prepaid plans, and if you get the "5G Prepaid Pack" from their website, you would have to pay RM 30 + RM 10 for it.Stupid lyn won't allow me to post direct link to um website but here its is www.u.com.my/en/personal/mobile-plans/prepaid/u-prepaid The new prepaid plans seem to be replacing the current GX prepaid plans since they're now gone from the website. https://www.u.com.my/en/personal/mobile-pla...epaid/u-prepaid I guess I'll wait for a month since I just renewed my GX30 recently, doubt they would give any rebates or provide seamless switching if I wanna switch now. QUOTE(Azims @ Feb 23 2022, 03:15 PM) They're probably replacing the current prepaid GX plans with U25/U35.But in order to subscribe to the new plans, we would have to get the new "5G Prepaid Pack" first. If want to retain same mobile number, it can be done when their system is ready. This is what I heard from their CS. |

QUOTE(wyh @ Mar 24 2022, 11:51 AM) Gx58 seems to be gone from website. U28 and P48 tooPostpaid 38 is good deal but hotspot for emergencies is not cheap Initially thought they would also upgrade those plans with more data for 5G and give it a new name just like the old P38 to new Postpaid 38 But they streamlined it into one instead, having more options would've been better to cater for different usages tho.
