Yup, I'm aware of the limit for the C1200. Already surveying the Asus RT-AC86U and RT-AC5300. Since the price is above the average, need more opinion from users here before commit into it.
I'm staying in a 2sty landed with about BUA of 2800sf.
Previously my C1200 was placed at the TV cabinet inside living hall, together with the BTU. Coverage was ok for most of the area, except 2 room which is located on the rear of 1st floor.
Now I moved the router to the 1st floor family area, coverage wise is ok for most of the area, except kitchen on the ground floor.
So between the AC86U & AC5300, which one has better wifi coverage, heat management, and pros & cons of each model?
I couldn't find the RRP for both the model, except those imported units from China. Wanna do a comparison on the pricing between local manufacturer warranty & local supplier warranty units.
I would suggest combinations of routers if you have the budget, otherwise just buy AC86U.
Below is my proposed setup for you.
1. Buy Asus RT-AC86U and place beside the BTU.
2. Setup your C1200 in WDS mode.
3. Or get AC5300 as main router and linked with AC 86U with AI Mesh mode
PS: you just need one good router , I mean one really good one such as Asus 86U and above then the rest of them you can choose cheaper router with AC2900 rating to setup as WDS mode and place in every corner in your house
Actually your router just need to cover the area where you are at the most critically. You don't need full 800 Mbps to scroll Facebook in the kitchen right? Kitchen and Dining area are not supposed to have Wifi because it kills family bonding time
