Yesterday went to TM Point CBJ around 5pm and changed my package from 30Mbps (RYE 2017 - RM139) to 100Mbps (RM129).
The staff mentioned all my existing equipment entitled one year warranty + free 600 minutes call (STD20) + two years contract + pro-rated billing , I'm okay with it.  cool2.gif

To my surprise, by the time I reached home an hour after left TM Point, my Unifi speed already changed to 100Mbps!  shocking.gif  shocking.gif
Wow... so efficient meh?  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

I think they are fast when there is new 2 year contract involved...

This is how it should be for users on supported equipment. Got mine within hours of changing my plan to RM129/100M too.

I'm previously on 30Mbps Bonanza campaign with RM60 discount which is RM139 per month, with that RM10 extra now, I think it should be RM129 next month?

Are these speedtest result consider ok from TP-Link C1200?

Mind to share what are the optimal setting I should set in my router in order to get the best out of my C1200 router?
May I know what is the optimal setting for the TP-Link C1200

It depends because 300Mbps will cost more, so they give you more discount to adjust.

I'm not sure how much is the base price for Turbo 300. So far I know 500 is 229, 800 is 329.

There is so many variations. Users have some combo of various packages ranging from RM79 to RM199, and maybe even to RM259. From 79, 89, ... all the way to 189, 199 in RM10 increments, some user has it. The only one I don't remember seeing is RM109.

You need to change to a better router seriously such as Asus in order for you to get the best out of your subscription.

I think it will be RM179 - RM70 discount = RM109 + RM30 UnifiTV = RM139. Just wait for next bill.

Oh so Turbo 300 base price is RM 179?

So it's as follow before discount is taken into calculation:
Turbo 300 - 179
Turbo 500 - 229
Turbo 800 - 329

Correct?

Yup, I'm aware of the limit for the C1200. Already surveying the Asus RT-AC86U and RT-AC5300. Since the price is above the average, need more opinion from users here before commit into it.

I'm staying in a 2sty landed with about BUA of 2800sf.

Previously my C1200 was placed at the TV cabinet inside living hall, together with the BTU. Coverage was ok for most of the area, except 2 room which is located on the rear of 1st floor.

Now I moved the router to the 1st floor family area, coverage wise is ok for most of the area, except kitchen on the ground floor.

So between the AC86U & AC5300, which one has better wifi coverage, heat management, and pros & cons of each model?

I couldn't find the RRP for both the model, except those imported units from China. Wanna do a comparison on the pricing between local manufacturer warranty & local supplier warranty units.

I would suggest combinations of routers if you have the budget, otherwise just buy AC86U.

Below is my proposed setup for you.

1. Buy Asus RT-AC86U and place beside the BTU.
2. Setup your C1200 in WDS mode.
3. Or get AC5300 as main router and linked with AC 86U with AI Mesh mode

PS: you just need one good router , I mean one really good one such as Asus 86U and above then the rest of them you can choose cheaper router with AC2900 rating to setup as WDS mode and place in every corner in your house

Actually your router just need to cover the area where you are at the most critically. You don't need full 800 Mbps to scroll Facebook in the kitchen right? Kitchen and Dining area are not supposed to have Wifi because it kills family bonding time

I hope someone with 30M bill can confirm. This is what I think only. Maybe I saw from a bill posted before. There is too many posts and prices and it is confusing. I could be wrong, so hope we can verify with a bill.

I think yours is some sort of mistake also. When they removed a pack, maybe they didn't remove discount or something. Good for you though.

I'm still very noob in networking. Need to study more on the WDS mode and Ai Mesh mode before going for my next router.

But basically the RT-AC5300 give me the impression of wider wifi coverage compare to the RT-AC86U. If compare spec sheets, AC86U seems to have higher processor clock speed and more flash memory compare to the AC5300. Not very sure whether these 2 spec affect much in the performance or not.

Btw, is there a setting in our smartphone / router whereby when a device detected the wifi signal is weak for one band, it will auto switch to another band with stronger coverage? Like 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz or wise versa?

If I dont need Ultimate(so downgrade to RUby) and std20, probably can reduced price to rm79.
