So for the STB part, technician need to present at my house? I was told by TM Point staff, we can exchange the old/faulty STB with a latest version from TM, without renewing the Unifi contract. Sounds a bit hard to believe, and my old STB was long missing.

As for the auto switch between 2.4ghz & 5ghz, what is the name of this setting? Only available in highend router, all brand router will have this setting/feature?

I did read the green words on the 1st page, am eyeing on Tp Link C3150 v2, AC86U & AC5300. Hopefully get one with more future proof... tongue.gif
Any link for it?
*
Not necessary, but you might need them to be there to make sure it all works.

That feature is only available in mid to high end routers. It is referred to as Smart Connect in Asus, TP-Link, and D-Link routers.

AC86U is better and sufficient for your needs.

Simply Googled.
I think pricing is not yet confirmed but it's retailed at SGD 599 about 1.8k, like AC5300 pricing.
*
Still need devices to support it though.

QUOTE(cskean @ Oct 25 2018, 10:40 PM)
If RM1.8K, sounds attractive....

Any idea what is the RRP for AC86U & AC5300, warranty by Asus Malaysia?
*
RRP for AC86U is usually between RM1.5K to RM2K, and RRP for AC5300 is RM2K to RM2.5K.

Based on others who got Turbo-ed, this is the base price.

On the average, after a complaint to MCMC, how long does it take to get a response? Mine launched on the 20/10, have not got a assignee yet.
*
15 working days as per MCMC's officer. You can call MCMC hotline or WhatsApp to ask them to expedite.

I think because TM has too many complaints lately and they cannot cope with the volume. Hence, the delay. laugh.gif

I have no doubt you are spot on regarding the slow response. I won't be holding my breath. 2 Accounts that need attention - both overpaying for services rendered. This non uniform charges are a pain.

Well, lets confirm the process to replace a new STB with TM 1st, then only decide what to do next.

If the pricing for AC86U & AC5300 are as you mention, then I think the latest RT-AX88U will cost even more...

Lets hold up a bit and see how the pricing like when the Asus new model router arrive in MY~

It is. Since I'm on the advantage side, I cannot say much but those paying high price should complain.

Anyone has issue on slow loading of picture or video in fb using phone when connected to 5ghz line? Dunno whether phone issue or setting with the router since if I'm using my umobile line, the loading are faster.

AC86U is less then 1K in Singapore and for that matter most of these products are more reasonably priced there. smile.gif

I also take some initiative to do some price search from taobao, and to my surprise AC86U average price is around RMB900 ONLY~~~

So WTH is Asus router selling here so much more expensive compare to other country...?

And since experts here saying that Asus is using international firmware, now I'm begin to think twice whether to get a local set or imported set~

Base on my experience, my unifi was upgraded and my MCMC report is still yet to be assigned to their staff.

I would suggest that going to the nearest TM Point to fill in the form / ask the staff there to expedite the upgrade too, if you have time to spare~

I bought my AC88U in Singapore quite some time back and if was far cheaper there. So much so, I was a little shocked. There were no issues using it here at all and the setup was easy even for a non technical guy like me. thumbup.gif

Support and warranty. Asus routers in China come with only 1 year of warranty if I am not mistaken. Good luck for grey importers offering more than that.

Asus Malaysia is pretty active in providing support to their users and they are also the first brand to come up with Unifi support. One notable recent thing is they fixed the AC55UHP, AC58U and AC1300UHP 800Mbps issue on Unifi mode. That's all by Asus MY.

Oh ya, China devices will have only China Wifi channels if you are particular. Devices are also not certified by MCMC and SIRIM.

May I know what is the different between China Wifi channels and locals one?

Buying directly from taobao and from local online platform such as lazada, shopee, which are also imported set, if those are also from China, does it make any different on the product specs?

I thought Asus using international firmware, so beside the initial setup which is in Chinese, which can be change to English later on, there is other setting which might not fit for Unifi users?

Ever since I started to use Unifi, I'm just using the router which is supply by TM, mainly is because the Unifi speed is not as fast as these day, which I feel is a bit wasting if buy high end router. So now need to catch up back some knowledge on router...

Sorry, just to check with you all the master here.
In order to get my Unifi 800mbps, I need to complaint to MCMC and CFM? I have been paying RM359++ per month for 100mbps and I'm still yet to receive any email from TM. Landed property from Johor.

All the knowledgeable master out there, what should I do? Thanks!

There are local units on Lazada but of course, ASUS MY pricing is higher but that's expected since most IT products are more expensive here.

As for the grey import routers. The hardware is the same, the firmware is the same as well. Just for the WiFi channels, China do not enable certain channels so you don't get to use them. Of course, there will be no warranty and support provided by ASUS MY.
