Just came back from TM point quill city mall

using 50mbps RM 179 high rise VDSL

asking to downgrade to the rm 129 plan, say cannot be done because of the infrastructure limitation

so i ask how?

She gave me 2 option:

1)downgrade to 30mbps for RM139
2) TM will announced a special programme within this month or next month for all customer that not eligible for turbo upgrade with a new price.so u need to wait for it.

maybe i will go other TM point and ask again.

It does, but I only meant that for wireless, not wired. Will add a description later. Lots of newbies like yourself is getting confused.

She is right though. If you are on VDSL, your speed is limited, unlike FTTH. Going to another TM point won’t change the fact that your infra does not support the speed that you want. Get your building management to update to full Fibre, or get TIME to come in.

Yes, all routers on 1st page support VLAN tagging, and support Unifi mode. You can either pick the Asus RT-AC1300UHP or the TP-Link Archer C7 v5 or v4.
*
v5/v4 refers to the firmware version? If i got v3 or below, can I just upgrade the firmware to v4/v5?

Nope, it refers to the hardware version. If you have v3 or below, you can’t upgrade to v4/v5 firmware. It is better to get the latest hardware version of a router.

You can go into the TIME thread and ask there, and see if TIME will be willing to cover your termination fee.

so u mean the speed on the router 1st page only mean for wifi speed?
if i pick the one on 1st page saying 100mbps but if i use it via lan cable ill still get my full 300/500/800 or which ever package im on?
so lan cable does not matter even if i choose on the 100mbps but im using 800mbps?

so if i want higher wifi speed then choose accordingly to 1st pages?

Also, those who have turbo upgraded may want to update the router's firmware and the client's Ethernet/wireless driver first if possible icon_idea.gif

possibility? yes.

should you put high hopes for it? no.

after 7 years of being a streamyx slave, i've learnt to put low expectations on TM.
it helps.
*
somehow i agree with u at this point.
anyway, we shd put hope to it and need more ppl like us (streamyx and unifi lite) that being slaved by TM to raise up their voice (comment in social media).
hopefully TM give a better plan within this mth as per some forumer said... vmad.gif vmad.gif

Yes, if you are on VDSL and UniFi cannot be Turbo-ed while TIME is available for you, should go over to TIME.
The dealers will give you a lot of freebies in term of cash back. My friend will not be Turbo-ed as I checked for her, back in end July I switched her to TIME 100Mbps and helped her to get a lot of freebies even though she's out of TM contract.

The reason why I recommend updating the router's firmware is not just improving performance and reliability, but to fix critical security vulnerabilities as well which is very important considering there are plenty of high profile router exploits that target many consumer or even enterprise-grade routers icon_idea.gif

I agree completely, but updating the router firmware is quite risky, as in they might update incompatible firmware, or beta firmware, and if anything happened to a router that belongs to someone else, I might get blamed for it, so I try to stay away from giving any advice that requires them to change the setting on their PC or router, in the event they might brick it.
