That actually not really a wise move. smile.gif
What if your neighbours do something illegal and you are the owner of the account? smile.gif

Even faster speeds help too - with 4K streaming, crazy large Windows updates and huge Steam games these days, it's good to have all the additional downstream bandwidth icon_idea.gif

It's also useful to futureproof your network too icon_idea.gif

I just don't know why people here doesn't want free speed upgrade - there's nothing wrong with a free speed upgrade. Sure some people wanted cheaper prices rather than a speed upgrade, but hey it's still a nice improvement which I can't really complain icon_idea.gif

Use mikrotik to do ip logging.

Not all people has the ability to work with a Mikrotik router like that. If normal users already have trouble handling consumer grade home networking stuff, then you shouldn't expect people to use an enterprise one like Mikrotik tongue.gif

Of course, they could try to learn how to use one, but people these days are unwilling to do that so.... sweat.gif

Guys, make sure u do the speedtest  with Ethernet cable

DO NOT USE WIFI

interferences or some factor can caused ur speed not reach that high and inaccurate, especially now u will have hundreds of Mbps internet connection

Even your internet speed is faster than ur Wireless if wireless got inteferences

U should only use 5Ghz Wireless AC for best possible speed, not stupid Wireless N 2.4Ghz
*
I think people here needs to know the difference between 802.11n/ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. You may even need a CAT5e/6 Ethernet cable to fully use the new Turbo upgrade (provided that the BTU itself and the router itself is Gigabit capable). The quality of the Ethernet cables are quite important too as there are some lower grade CAT5e/6 cables that claim to do Gigabit, but doesn't actually do Gigabit icon_idea.gif

Of course, people will put the blame to TM when the actual problem sometimes lie within your router icon_idea.gif

That being said, it should be quite nice to have a thread on networking basics. This should hopefully clear up the air on networking, and educates people on how to configure their own network, along with buying their own router that can handle the new speed icon_idea.gif

Anyone is willing to create a Google spreadsheet on the new UniFi turbo plan? I heard that some lucky folks have already received the upgrade icon_idea.gif

The spreadsheet would have the forum username, rough address, before turbo speed, after turbo speed, upgrade email received (Yes/No) and things like that. icon_idea.gif

Some additional information for those who have received the upgrade:

If you have received the upgrade, but is unable to utilize the maximum speed, make sure that the ONU(BTU, i.e. the 'modem') is capable of handling the new speed. If you are unsure about it, just ask the exact make and model of the ONU here. Some older models are not capable of handling the new turbo speed, and you will need to contact TM to upgrade the ONU for free without any contract extension or additional payment. icon_idea.gif

how did you get the discount?  hmm.gif
*
Must be the one that MGM has said before. Some people actually got a RYE upgrade or special upgrade which added a UniFi Ultimate Pack (which essentially covers all TV packages, and overlaps the current TV package). This causes some kind of double payment, as the Ultimate Pack has covered all the channels that the subscriber has (Aneka Plus/Ruby Plus/Varnam Plus). icon_idea.gif

So some people can remove the redundant RM30 package, and leave the RM60 Ultimate package instead icon_idea.gif

MGM is another one who got this discount too, although some people here are not so lucky, as fruitie is unable to remove the extraneous RM30 package due to it is being tied to the discount icon_idea.gif

Check the Ethernet cable - like JohnLai said, there may be a problem with the cabling icon_idea.gif

Also, did you change the link speed of your network adapter in Device Manager? It is recommended that the Ethernet link speed is set to 'Auto Negotiation' icon_idea.gif

Might be a good idea to do a driver update of your Ethernet drivers too icon_idea.gif

What version of the firmware you are on? Hardware revision? hmm.gif

Go to the router page and login, and see the information at the bottom part of the webpage. It should say the firmware version and the hardware revision of your router icon_idea.gif

Check the make and model of the ONU (aka modem), and post it here. icon_idea.gif

You might want to post your current router model here too icon_idea.gif

v1 .... I have that model, and it appears that it suffers from a high CPU usage bug which may cause this issue. The router sometimes reboot for no reason too hmm.gif

You still need to know the make and model of the ONU (modem) and the router.... it might be a possibility that the ONU is not capable of handling the speed icon_idea.gif

Also, ONU =/= router. There are too many people here that doesn't seem to know the difference between the two rclxub.gif

Inside info: Apparently TM CEO will be holding press conference on 30th Aug and likely they are gonna revamp their products in line with maxis latest offering.

If this is true, then this could potentially kickstart some real competition brows.gif

...also shots fired at TM: laugh.gif

Who is eligible to sign up for the new MaxisONE Home Fibre plans?

The new MaxisONE Home Fibre plans are available to anyone from all income groups whose homes are located within our coverage.

I highly doubt you'll get a turbo upgrade due to limitations of VDSL2 icon_idea.gif

Although you may get a speed upgrade (somewhere of 30->50Mbps) icon_idea.gif

This is not true. Cat5e can cater 1000Mbps depending on length.

However there are some poorly-made CAT5e cables (copper-clad ones) that may not do that icon_idea.gif
