Hello sifus, got some questions:

1. Will the ethernet cable connecting the ONU modem and the wireless router be a speed limiting factor?
2. Will the ethernet cable connecting the wireless router to the the STB be a speed limiting factor for video streaming?

Here's my speedtest results for TM crappy tabung DIR-850L for 500Mbps Turbo.  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif
2.4GHz

5GHz

buy a better router & a capable receiver(phones/usb wifi adapter).
no use buying a rm2k++ 4x4 router but your receiver is 2x2. speed will still forever be half of what that router can do puke.gif

I am in high rise with copper.

Wish to get the new Unifi advance plan with 30Mbps.

So obviously we are not able to upgrade to 300Mbps as promised.

So will our bill of rm139 be reduced to half at the very least, since our speed is 10 times lower?

Yes to both of your questions. You need to have at least Cat 5E as your cable for everything.

As we all say earlier, you have to change your router. Don’t expect their stupid stock TM router to perform well wirelessly. It is just the way it is.

Yeah, I'm looking for a better router now. No point paying for 500Mbps and getting crap speed with crappy router. Will look for Cat5E cables too. Any good recommendations? smile.gif

Wifi speed for this router is like this lio, invest for better router like 3x3 mimo or 4x4 mimo
Between, what is your LAN speed? can reach 500Mbps? (SG users only managed get around 300-400Mbps)
Haven't tested with LAN yet. Need to setup laptop near router first. My laptop battery is dead so it's not mobile anymore sweat.gif

Err... what is the 4x4 and 2x2 thingy? Sorry not very tech savvy sweat.gif My devices are Galaxy Note FE, Xiaomi Mipad 1 and a 10-year old Toshiba Satelite laptop. Will a better router give better speed for those devices? Or should I just live with the current speed?

My best advice to you, try get CAT6 since only few ringgit expensive than CAT5e, manatau somedays in future TURBO lagi until max 10Gbps?
Crappy router still can surfing with LAN, but for better wifi then need INVEST some $$$ (rmb record down every details inside configuration.)

A better router might help with all of those, but only with 5GHz AC. For 4x4 and 2x2 thingy, see here: https://www.securedgenetworks.com/blog/whic...2x2-or-3x3-mimo

This is Malaysia. Everything is possible 'Malaysia Boleh'

Actually mine the same , upgrade from 30-50mbps . Fully FTTH, probably these are the discount given to knock of TV content and MoiP charges.

Back to ages, TM use to offer bundle with VoiP , IPTV and Fibre . This is where the discount applied.

- Promo Discount RM60
- Promo Discount Perpetual

I paying 197 monthly after credit card auto deduction monthly for 50 Mbps. Paying premium price without getting upgrade first, TM piss everyone here

Today finally got status change from "Unifi Pro 100Mbps (RYE 2017)" to "unifi 800Mbps (Turbo Upgrade 2018)" , I live in Tmn Melati Kuala Lumpur Area. I did not receive any email or sms prior to this

After I got home from work, I restarted the router and onu and run a speed test but only get 264.42 Mbps download and 97.56 Mbps upload. The router I'm using is Asus RT-AC1300UHP and speedtest from wifi show almost same result.

The question is does the Unifi speed upgrade increase gradually or is there something wrong hmm.gif

Despite its upgraded but I dun feel the speed is increased as I do download few movie at the same time but finish load at almost same time as before

becos the previous speed is fast enough. and it depends on the source also, if source is slow, even you have a lot of bandwidth also it will not make any difference.

sad.gif True.

Judging from his wifi speedtest result, his client device probably connected at PHY link speed of 433Mbps 5ghz band with 80Mhz channel width to the router. The effective MAC layer speed would be 40% - 60% of PHY link speed.
