If it's only a bit, then go for proton branded. You'll never know how TCU acts on different fluid dynamics.
*
Already bought Aisin AFW+. sweat.gif Seems like Aisin is actually a big player in automotive world, plus they give full specification for their ATF, so I really like that. TCU was working somewhat okay with old fluid at low level, I'm sure it can handle new liquid that meets SPIII specification. I'll let you guys know how it goes after replace.

QUOTE(xandras @ Jan 24 2021, 12:10 AM)

Do look for ATF filter to replace as well; 4 years never service the filter has to go.
*
I read somewhere that ATF filter actually doesn't need to replace if not listed under routine service. Few months ago I replaced my sister first gen 2005 myvi, and I gotta say, the filter is clean even though the transmission is having shifting problem (i'm the first person to open the ATF filter since 2005 lol). Unsurprisingly replacing the filter does nothing to remedy the problem.

So I'm more leaning to not to have the transmission opened up unless it is required. Fingers crossed that I don't need to do a major service to this car.

Okay, if you know what you’re doing. Just remember that old information in this forum may or may not be valid depending on how much experience we had at the point we shared it.

how many liters the auto transmission need? i poured in 4 liters, the dipstick is barely reaching halfway of the cold level...
i added half of a bottle more, and then it somewhat reach top of cold level. this is after i drive the car around town for 15 minutes. engine idling, N gear.
old ATF i put inside 5 liters minyak masak bottle. it looks like more than 4 liters comes out from the drain plug. hmm.gif

owner's manual also didn't say how many liters need to add after drain. only say the transmission need 7.7 liters of ATF.

anyhow, now the car downshifts a lot more smoothly, no more jerking.

Usually 4-5 bottles per replacement. As when you drain the old oil there usually will still be at least another 2-3 litres in the transmission that you can’t get out.

alright tq. i learn something new whenever this car makes a problem.

most youtube tutorials say only need 4 liters, i was shocked when the ATF level was low, thought that was something wrong with my transmission.

now to change spark plugs..

Might be a good idea to observe your ATF for a while and make sure that the ATF level is not dropping. Otherwise you might have a leaking issue that you need to look into.

Alcantara steering wheel finish is only seen in expensive cars but not anymore with ForgedForSpeed Garage. In today’s video, I will be showing you how to hand stitch a steering wheel for a luxurious transformation from a worn down condition to at very small cost. Watch this video to learn how much this cost.

Hope this video is helpful, more videos on DIY car repairs/mods coming up. Stay tuned.....

Contrary to what workshops tell you, need around 4.5L+ for each change of ATF.

If just 4L its just barely above low.

it was a bit of bummer because most fully synthetic ATF is sold in 4 liters bottle. Proton SPIII got too many fakes in the market.
maybe next time I change ATF, I'll try Mizu or UMW group brand GEP. this two is at least nobody wants to make counterfeits.

Yes there are a lot of fakes and I share the same sentiment and view as you.

Try Boscher SP III Fully Synthetic ATF bro, they sell in 4L / 1L variants so its what you want. Been using it for 2 years+ and performance is good.

Their recommended service interval is 40-60k which is higher than original proton / mizu others, but of course I don't dare to drag so long as well
