how to check atf dipstick to know when its full?
After driving, the red fluid should be at the MAX of HOT region right? mechanic poured 4L of ATF into my gearbox after changing. Researched online, many people said Persona needs 5L. Currently after driving when I check, the fluid is right at the beginning of HOT area |

is it normal for you guys to top-up for water like every 3 weeks?
I usually know when my fan continues to spin after I turn off my car, surprisingly my car temperature still always normal though |

Hi guys,
Had my alignment + balancing done today. Mechanic said my front left hand side DRIVE SHAFT INNER BOOT COVER koyak already Was rushing for work so didn't have time to order and do Online lazada selling for RM20: https://www.lazada.com.my/-i336374074-s4682...lFlag=true&mp=1 Is it critical to change? and does it affect ride and handling? Because if I were to change it, need to re-do alignment and balancing again ($$$ and time) since its not the outer drive shaft or the entire set. It's just the inner one side koyak ![]() This post has been edited by diversity: Dec 14 2018, 10:07 PM |

guys, my persona coolant disappearing without leaks.
1) Did pressure test at workshop, no leaks observed 2) Went to flush and change coolant. After turning on car, coolant starting overflowing from opened radiator where the cap is supposed to be. Workshop said thermostat faulty so changed thermostat, radiator cap, and new coolant 50/50 3) after 3-4 weeks without checking everytime , the radiator fan will continue moving even after I turned off the engine. This is an indicator when the coolant is not enough. Everytime in the radiator have to top-up around 1 litre+, reservoir totally empty Now people saying its blown/cracked head gasket. But my engine still running fine. Engine oil normal color. Foreman recommended to do top overhaul. Even when/before/after the radiator fan continue moving after engine off, the temperature gauge is still fine. Never overheated before or anything. Foreman also said maybe the coolant leaking into exhaust? what do you guys think? This post has been edited by diversity: Jul 5 2019, 08:45 AM |

QUOTE(litlit @ Oct 27 2019, 03:31 PM) Want change Michelin xm2+ 4pcs tyre. Any idea 195/60/15 or 195/55/15 better? What’s the stock tyres size? Thanks QUOTE(incredibless @ Oct 27 2019, 08:38 PM) QUOTE(wklow28 @ Oct 29 2019, 08:52 AM) yeah 195/60 is stock, but I see many ppl change to 195/55 for better ride and handling?another plus point is that 195/55 is cheaper, thinking of changing to 195/55 next round as well since waja/gen2 also using it. Probably persona using 195/60 for better comfort instead of sporty handling, but since my persona is so bumpy it doesnt matter |

QUOTE(voscar @ Oct 29 2019, 12:22 PM) Not sure, but Gen2 and Persona using different absorber, Gen2 shares same absorber with Waja. I'm using SACHS absorber front and rear, online it says waja/gen2/persona same.Later variant of Gen2 CPS also switch to use 195/60/R15 profile. Probably that's why my absorbers so stiff and sporty (I prefer stock but foreman didnt took this one cause cheaper than stock). Guess I'll go for 195/55 when I wanna change |

QUOTE(iskazulka @ Nov 14 2019, 10:24 AM) yes came stock with the car. The stupid bumper skirting. Upon checking it doesn't really make the car lower, as its higher than the bumper itself. But it does overstretch the bumper and makes it more protruding QUOTE(voscar @ Nov 14 2019, 10:39 AM) What is your tyre profile? 195/60 or changed to gen2 195/55? 195/60 stock tyre sizeHave you replaced your absorber before? Using original Persona absorber or 3rd party absorber claiming Waja/Gen2/Persona compatible? changed before to third party absorber SACHS and yes it claims compatible for all 3 models mentioned maybe I should change springs? have not changed before and when I sit down, I noticed that it goes lower as well |

QUOTE(wklow28 @ Nov 18 2019, 09:50 AM) thanks, but I think it just prevents the car from dropping too much during compression stage.Worth trying tho, will give it a try next time Just to update everyone: Just spent around RM700 (RM140 top set+560 labour) for top overhaul of my Proton Persona. I had queried earlier on the reasoning why my coolant levels kept decreasing (every 2 weeks top up 1L, been doing that for years). Finally know its because of head gasket leak, it wasn't obvious as my engine oil color was still normal. But foreman said last time he guessed that the coolant was being sucked into exhaust but could not give a confirmation. He recommended me to just keep topping up water since its been ongoing for years. What caused the nail in the coffin was me flushing radiator/coolant (using radiator flush bought from auto shop). I guess when it cleared all the rust and stuffs, maybe a hole was opened bigger or something. Radiator coolant ran dry just after topping up and driving for 1 hour+, this time it seeped into my engine oil and it turned milky. Engine overheated and couldn't start engine afterwards, thank god it died infront of my trusty workshop if not more $$ spent on towing. Only 3 cylinders was working and it was misfiring like hell before it died. |

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Nov 19 2019, 09:30 AM) Wow that's very detailed debrief.. Thanks a lot for sharing.. Going to raise red flag next time if my coolant level drops. Try not to use pipe water to mix with your coolant. Only use distilled water. It'll keep your radiator and cooling system last longer. if do radiator pressure test and coolant still disappearing, very likely is head gasket issue |

QUOTE(anakMY @ Nov 21 2019, 07:43 PM) u always check ur coolant? u check on which part? by opening the pressurized radiator cap on top of the radiator right I check both.If no leaks in radiator, hoses and head gasket OK. The coolant level should not decrease significantly, especially if you're using proper 50-50 distilled water/coolant mix. For example, my mom's car I filled up with coolant mix 3 years ago, until now never needed to top up anything. |
