My odometer shown 6.7 to 7.5 normally.
I do not know how accurate it is btw.

After cleaning Throttle Body, some more FC increase?  confused.gif

Just did manual calculation this week. It's still at 8L/100Km, mostly city drive average speed at 60km/h. The ECU probably averages out the fuel consumption of all trip since last time ECU reset. Used to see the fuel consumption jumps all over the place before this, and found out that it was caused by battery almost dead.

That's a nice FC figure. You Persona is the IAFM right? With the plastic intake manifold. What engine oil do you use?

hi,

im a foreigner planning to get a 2nd hand matic persona as im leaning towards a sedan instead of a hatch. budget is around 15k. what year/variant model is recommendable? Currently im just referring to carlist to check car listings. Car usage will be mostly city driving and ocassional out of town trips.

i know that there would be extra expense to replace the common wear and tear when buying 2nd hand cars. how much would it usually cost to replace bushings, engine mount, stock absorbers including the labor cost?

appreciate the help folks.

Later model Persona with IAFM have problem with the plastic intake manifold, dubbed as the 'tak tak tak noise problem'. It's a design problem coupled with wear and tear, but luckily the problem is so common that most workshop can repair/replace the intake manifold it.

One thing that I notice driving car with Campro engine is that they usually have a sudden rough downshift/engine braking when going downhill. The jerking will be stronger if you have a bad engine mountings. Your engine will go from 2000RPM to sudden 3000RPM. The way to avoid this jerking is to slow down the car or hit more gas so that the car travels at 80km/h. People new to campro probably will be shocked by this.

Good thing about this car is the handling and cheap parts. I buy most of my replacement parts from shopee. You can check the prices there. 4 pieces of engine mounts RM150, front shock absrober RM250-400, brake pad RM40-RM120, front lower arm RM 150 -RM250 pair, sway bar links RM80 pair, wheel bearings RM50 per piece, front absorber mount RM100. Labor cost is depends on the workshop. I did my repairs with my usual kampung mechanic, cost to replace engine mounts is RM100 for all 4 pieces. Front wheel bearings RM100 per side.

Oh the most important part to replace is the timing belt. Costs RM500 including part and labor plus the water pump. Replace every 3 years/100,000km.

Nice. Where did you repainted it?

I heard the knock sound on front RHS (or front area) when cornering through very uneven road / pot holes / speed bumps, which is the loudest since early years. Like you said, technician just simply changed right lower arm but it doesnt help much. So, I came to this and think that it is related to this design flaw?
I also hearing many sounds coming from all 4 wheels when passing repetitive uneven road. it sounds louder when reaching certain vibrate frequency / amplitude
Ya, I agree with you but I am not so experience in relating the sound to the parts. Still learning the parts.
I have asked car garage technician to drive once and he comments that it considerably still ok. I assume it is not critical yet.
Sounds subjective as I guess it is influenced by the sound proofing of the car. I think the door seal also getting poor.
Thank you for the relating info. Maybe one day change the links and arms by phase but end goal is fix what is broken.
I agree with you also. Thinking to DIY too to have fun but I need to learn where is the pipe. blush.gif *update: I found it from the V10 thread.
Thank you for the suggestion. Let me browse it through, just worry that there is counterfeit product.

You might wanna take a look at the bushings of your anti roll bar. That’s a cheap fix.

Yess. Hope it's more active since I got many question. Just decided to slowly restore this old 2007 Persona.

Anyway, anyone notice vibration on the belt tensioner when A/C compressor turns on? Is it normal? I'm using 6PK1677 fan belt with metal belt tensioner, thinking of using 6PK1669 to minimize tensioner vibration. It makes annoying vibration noise when stopping at traffic light. So far the easy solution I've found is to use N gear to avoid tensioner vibration noise at idle.

What kind of vibration noise? Can you feel the vibration from inside the car?

tensioner vibration. just noise, doesn't feel anything weird inside. already replaced engine mounts. happens when in D, idling at a stop. i think most likely caused by lower RPM when idle in D gear. it's annoying.

Squeaky noise? I’m sure you’ve checked your tensioner bearing?

Brand new tensioner. Not squeaky, just brrrt brrrt brrrt vibration noise.

Nevermind, found that the overruning alternator pulley has seized. That explains the problem. Tested it last month, it was in working condition. Just this week it becomes louder, overruning alternator pulley becomes a solid pulley.

My PE had a problem during cold start where the alternator pulley couldn’t turn at all. End up there’s this loud grinding noise during the first few mins of starting up the car. Replaced it and it’s fine now.

Most workshops should be able to do it. Rather the question is have you already found the rear disc brake set for the conversion?
