what is actually the main purpose of using BigPay these days?

lousy app and the alternatives all have better functionalities, so what is BigPay's USP?

if u feel no other use with bigpay, then dont use lor. no need force yourself.

now, they seems to pivot to remittance/travel market segment.

Few i can think off.

1. when travelling can use as back up of cash, some ppl do prefer debit card than credit card
2. withdraw in overseas, some ppl like to withdraw overseas (foreign currency) than go to money changer to get foreign currency note
3. convenient or another layer of protection, only load up when need to use eg i wanna buy online rm77 only load rm77 into it and make payment so that no credit or debit card information got leak... so that your main debit card can stay away from fraud cases, information leak by website if from bank than another story la...

Remember Capital AirAsia is selling 70% of Bigpay to some regional bank? I think they're working on that and let the regional bank Setel the problem.

It is kinda scary reading that the lady got tagged as "mule" under AML just because of an error from BigPay. RM 10.44 only, but the damage is far worse than one could imagine. If it weren't for it being viral now, otherwise BigPay would still take its own sweet time to resolve it.

This reminds me that it can happen to e-wallets, too, not only BigPay (prepaid cards). Sigh.

It is disappointing that Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), as the central authority overseeing the financial system, failed to address the root cause of this issue effectively. Allowing such a situation to occur without a thorough investigation reflects a serious lapse in regulatory responsibility. As the main financial regulator, BNM should be held to the highest standards—and this outcome is deeply concerning and shameful.

agreed.
if any ewallet provider demonstrate they are not fit / irresponsible to handle the system, BNM should remove their access to the system to prevent further damage.

True. BNM also took it too lightly and didn’t give pressure to BigPay to get it resolved.

I’m thinking to clear off the balance and cancel too.

Well, they cannot just stop the access as there are still other users.

All of the above reason - the digital banks and e-wallets (with cards) can do it too, and most probably doing it even better with better FX rate, better UIUX and/or free ATM withdrawals

everyone should start leaving BigPay and closing their account to teach these incompetent management a lesson

Frankly speaking bigpay has a lot of loopholes and fraud. That why it never safe to use this card.

It's been a while after i use BigPay, but after the Thailand incident revealed and remind me how worst their CS and their backend, i simply request to terminate everything.
When i raise the account termination, they say you can choose to leave it blank like that and come back whenever you like.
After that incident shows that even have connection to them put you on risk - hence it's better to cut all ties.
I could not accept that the company REFUSE to provide black and white and acknowledge their mistake.

Afterall, it's helm by Tony himself.

Oversea usage ?
Wise beat BigPay at so much level of competence.

I thought all local techs (and AI) are the same.

They're waiting for the regional bank's payment. I think Michelle hit them hard at the right time. Reputation damaged, regional bank calls off deal.

Cannot provide Black or White without authorization from lawyers because got legal implications.

Are you saying that BigPay declines to issue an official clearance letter to the victim, to avoid getting sued?

Well, the victim may use BigPay e-mail dated 25 June 2025, as well as BigPay press statement (as seen in the link given by cybpsych), as the documents that substitute the official clearance letter.
