I would like to suggest the following features for BIG Prepaid MasterCard. I am fully aware that the following features may never be implemented by BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., but at least BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. are aware of these suggestions.

Implementing these features will increase the cost borne by BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., so it is mostly likely not economically viable.

Perhaps, some of the hardcore BIG Prepaid users may bash me for saying this. It is fine, by the way. smile.gif Let's agree to disagree. I shall present my view once, and then I shall remain silent on this matter from now onwards.

BigPayJonathan

Here are my suggestions, hopefully for some brief consideration by BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.:

1) Provide an official BigPay website, whereby I can use a computer to login in to check the transaction history of the BigPay Prepaid MasterCard, and perform other related settings of the card. For example, for Maybank savings accounts, we can login to https://www.maybank2u.com.my/home/m2u/common/login.do.

2) Other than the existing registration via BigPay app in smartphones, allow new users to submit the duly-filled hardcopy of the PDF application form for BigPay Prepaid MasterCard, along with the necessary supporting documents, to be mailed to head office of BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Wisma Tune, in Bukit Damansara.

3) Allow some new users to come to the head office of BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Wisma Tune, in Bukit Damansara, so that the BigPay staff can perform the necessary verification (such as thumbprint verification) to process and approve the application for BigPay Prepaid MasterCard.

Thank you very much for forwarding my suggestions to your colleagues in BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., for their awareness. thumbup.gif

Minorities like me may not be able to obtain a BIG Prepaid MasterCard, although I am very interested to apply for one. Nevertheless, I am still happy that this prepaid card by BigPay Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has benefited many users here. thumbup.gif

1) If I call BigPay customer service at 03-7662 9200, is it easy to get the MCC Code from BigPay customer service executive, similar to customer service executives from Public Bank or Hong Leong Bank?

Or, is it difficult like Maybank, whereby some Maybank customer service executives claim that they do not have the access to MCC code, or some Maybank customer service executives say that customers are not authorized to know the MCC codes?

2) After activating the BigPay card, does the very first transaction need to be a PIN transaction? Is an online transaction (with SMS OTP) not allowed as the very first transaction?

QUOTE
Q9 : Can the card be over swipe if to spend amount more than balance amount in card?
A9 : Yes, BUT the second transaction decline automatically.

3) This useful FAQ is from the second post. Just to confirm, assuming that the balance in my BigPay account is RM 200 and I then spend RM 200 on BigPay card in a single transaction, the transaction will be approved even though the balance will be reduced to zero, right?

Thank you for your clarification. smile.gif

A quick search for the word 'emboss' in this thread seems to indicate that BigPay Prepaid MasterCard does not have the name of card user embossed on it. No worries, I have no issue with it, since this card is just a prepaid card, not a credit card.

Let's assume that a person's real name is Lee Ah Ming. Is it possible to call BigPay to change the displayed name, so that the charge slips printed from credit card terminals (either from PIN or Paywave transactions) shows Andrew Lee, for example?

I would prefer the charge slips not to show my full name. It is something we can have for credit cards, but I am unsure that we can request the same feature for BigPay Prepaid MasterCard.

Thank you for your information. smile.gif

There's no name at all. I don't recall seeing my name on any slip.
No name on the charge slips, is it? That is even better.

Thanks, fruitie sis. smile.gif

I have just recently activated my BigPay Prepaid MasterCard. Since I use my Public Bank credit card for initial RM 20 top-up, this card appears as a credit card saved in Top-up Page.

Do I need to delete this credit card, and then manually key in my credit card details again, to perform subsequent top-up to my BigPay card?

Correct me, if I am wrong. For some other eWallets, if we select the existing saved credit card to perform subsequent top-up, we may not get the OTP from the bank. As such, Public Bank does not consider such transactions as online transactions and thus does not grant online cashback, since the transactions are performed without OTP authentication.

I wonder whether such scenario is applicable for subsequent top-up of BigPay Prepaid MasterCard, or not.

Thank you for your advice. smile.gif

Just call 03-7662 9200, which is the number of BigPay Customer Service, printed on the back of your BigPay Prepaid MasterCard.

For sure, when you are in overseas, just dial 603-7662 9200.

BigPay app was installed in your smartphone which you brought along, in your overseas trip, right?

And, is it true that BigPay Authorizing Officer never calls you, to check regarding some transactions charged in Malaysia, and some transactions charged in overseas countries?

contact bigpay to update the points/settle the transactions.

i just did it few days ago to update old transactions to SETTLED status.
*
Really?

Thank you very much for your tip, cybpsych. notworthy.gif

I have the same experience too. Performed close to 2 weeks ago, the transactions charged to my BigPay card still remain pending.

Normally, at every night, the merchant would have performed settlement at their credit card terminals, and / or their online payment gateway. The transactions should have been settled a few days later, and the merchants would have received the payment minus merchant discount rate and some other fees.

It is unbelievable that the transactions still remain pending, after 2 weeks. I do not believe that the merchants are so generous to allow me to buy their stuff or use their service for free.

Based on what you said, it is more of a glitch on BigPay app.

Thanks again, cybpsych. smile.gif

The first post states:

Contactless Payment (PayPass) Max Daily Limit : RM250

The capping is on the cumulative contactless amount. So, is there any limit on the number of contactless transactions I can perform in a day?

I am sorry that I am unable to keep up with the latest and fast-paced development by BigPay and any other e-Wallets.

As per Budget 2020, the government will provide all eligible Malaysians a one-off RM 30 incentive to speed up the adoption of e-wallet usage in the country.

Is BigPay Prepaid MasterCard eligible for such RM 30 incentive?

BigPay repeatedly claims that it is not a e-Wallets, but most of us believe that BigPay Prepaid MasterCard is a form of e-Wallet.

The safer alternative is to use Touch n' Go e-Wallet, Boost, or so on. However, I would not prefer getting another e-Wallet.

It is kind of a headache, to manage my BigPay Prepaid MasterCard, on top of my other credit cards. Adding another e-Wallet just compounds my hassle, and in my opinion, does not justify the benefit of RM 30 incentive offered by the government. To me, having too many credit cards and e-Wallets is a form of "over diversification" that should be avoided.

For sure, many e-Wallet users here will disagree with me, since they can get cashback, discount and other benefits for e-Wallet usage. For this matter, let's agree to disagree, ok? smile.gif

Let me rephrase my question.

If I have a BigPay Prepaid MasterCard, am I eligible to get the one-off RM 30 incentive, as per Budget 2020?

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Dec 6 2019, 10:08 AM)
nope. it should be e-tunai wallet
*
QUOTE(zenquix @ Dec 6 2019, 01:23 PM)
the RM30 is for those earning 100k a year or less. For those earning more no need to bother tongue.gif

Personally i suspect e-tunai is another system or framework like duitnow qr. maybe for bnm to better track money movement which all ewallets are expected to join. And the beneficiaries wallets will likely be GLC ones, so TnG and Boost.

Sometimes this "headache" is an instrument to play / gain for benefits. kart may feel is it is a hassle. but tell it to those who have been topping up and withdrawing on a regular basis.
*
Ok, probably only participating e-Wallet providers in the system of e-tunai wallet, such as TnG eWallet and Boost, are eligible.

Sigh, it looks like that I have to apply for another e-Wallet, and choose between TnG eWallet and Boost. sad.gif

Yes, zenquix, I am aware that many users are using e-Wallets, as a mean of getting "cash advance" from credit card, without having to pay the fee normally associated with cash advance. This is their right, and I respect them.

For me, I will not ever withdraw money via e-Wallets. In my opinion, uncontrolled cash withdrawal via e-Wallets may lead to spiralling credit card debt, which is something I want to avoid in the first place. Whatever money that is charged to the credit cards in order to reload the e-Wallets, eventually needs to be repaid by the credit card users to the banks, as this money is still a form of short-term loan offered by the banks.

Yes, alexanderclz, I do not deny that there are benefits to be gained, from e-Wallet usage.

Sometimes, I cannot trust myself. You know that, the lure of cashback from credit cards, and the benefits from e-Wallets act as a form of seduction that urges us to spend more than what is necessary.

For me, it is best to be disciplined, and to spend on the needs, rather on the wants. Once I am tempted by the dark side and spend beyond my means, there may be no turning back, and I may be stuck deeper in the quicksand of credit card debt.

Many of you all can manage the situation better than me, and I respect that. smile.gif

i believe the only problem with BP similar to Debit card, when we get charge, our money get deducted smile.gif unlike credit card, after you reported fraud to bank, you have not pay yet.. how many days gonna wait is... well okay sweat.gif

so thats why need to be more careful, can understand how people feel when the money which is already deducted.

difficult to compare to credit card fraud because we have not pay yet smile.gif just my 2 cents
*
Yes, I fully echo your opinion. smile.gif

Fraudulent transactions charged to prepaid / debit cards:
- The cardholder's money is already deducted, and shall be only returned to the cardholders, after the bank or fintech completes the investigation of the fraudulent transactions, which can take several weeks. That equals several weeks of anxiety, restlessness and confusion, endured by cardholders.

- The bank or fintech does not pay much attention to such fraudulent transactions (less urgent in the priority list of bank or fintech), because it is not the money of bank or fintech, being deducted.

- All risks fall on the cardholders, instead of the bank or fintech.

Fraudulent transactions charged to credit cards:
- The cardholders need not pay any money, because as soon as the cardholders reports the fraudulent transactions to the bank or fintech, the bank or fintech immediately flags / withholds the floating fraudulent transactions, from being settled by fraudulent merchants.

- The bank or fintech is more committed and deploys much greater resources in solving the issue of fraudulent transactions, because the money of the bank or fintech is at risk being claimed by fraudulent merchants. Note that the credit limit of the credit cards is some sort of short-term loan offered by the bank or fintech, to the cardholders.

- Almost all risks fall on the bank or fintech, instead of the cardholders, as long as the cardholders immediately reports that the fraudulent transactions are performed beyond the knowledge of the cardholder.

In short, for unknown transactions, it is better for us the cardholders to use credit cards, instead of prepaid / debit cards, because credit cards will offer better protection to the cardholders.

Well, it is a well-known fact that BigPay Prepaid MasterCard is a prepaid card. So, we have to accept the risk of using BigPay Prepaid MasterCard, since we want to reap the benefits of using BigPay Prepaid MasterCard.

Thank you so much to cybpsych, and many other experts here in this wonderful subforum whom I gain tons of useful knowledge. notworthy.gif

From first post:
• Oversea Bank Transfer : Max RM20,000/day, RM30,000/mth, Fee : Refer to BP Apps

1) Are these maximum transaction amounts applicable?

2) Has anyone here converted Ringgit Malaysia to Singapore Dollar in BigPay App, and then transferred Singapore Dollar in savings account in Maybank Singapore, CIMB Singapore, DBS / POSB, OCBC Singapore and so on?

3) How does BigPay deduct my money (in Ringgit Malaysia) for oversea bank transfer? Via FPX? So, I do not need to reload my BigPay card first for the oversea bank transfer, right?

4) Roughly how many days does the oversea bank transfer require to be completed?

5) How can I download the PDF file of the oversea transfer receipt?

Thank you very much for your clarification. notworthy.gif

2) and 3)  - it basically transferring the RM balance in your bigpay account so you need add funds to bigpay first, via credit/debit card or bank account. Bigpay currently only holds RM. You provide a SG bank account to transfer to.
*
In other words, the maximum conversion amount for each oversea bank transfer transaction is RM 10000, since it is limited to the maximum amount of BigPay account, right?

Sigh, the maximum conversion amount for each oversea bank transfer via BigPay is quite low. sad.gif On the other hand, we can transfer up to RM 30000 via Instarem, since it is maximum limit of FPX transaction.

With the maximum transaction limit of RM 20,000 per day, and RM 30,000 per month, we can transfer RM 10000 twice in a day, and then RM 10000 once in another day, in the same calendar month.

I personally do not have that much money to be exchanged to SGD, via oversea bank transfer. However, since BigPay changes a fixed fee of RM 5 for the conversion of RM to SGD, it is wise to convert as much RM as possible.

As a comparison, Instarem changes a transaction fee of 0.45% of the conversion amount.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Jan 19 2020, 02:11 PM)
Someone reported the rate wasn't great compared to other established providers.

Thanks for your tip.

Definitely, before performing oversea bank transfer, we will check the rate of BigPay, Instarem, MoneyMatch and so on, and choose the cheapest rate.

For BigPay International Bank Transfer:

Do your Singapore Savings Account receive exactly the same amount of Singapore Dollar, as stated in your BigPay transfer receipt?

Or, does your Singapore Bank deduct inward remittance fee, from the amount of Singapore Dollar stated in your BigPay transfer receipt?

Thank you for your clarification. smile.gif

Thank you very much for sharing experience, adele123 sis and tifosi bro.

Yeah, I have the same experience as well. My money converted to SGD is credited to my Singapore Savings Account, as per stated in my BigPay transfer receipt.

That is nice. rclxm9.gif

It seems that the agent of BigPay, TikFx Singapore (https://www.tikfx.com/) will credit our money in SGD, via IBG GIRO, to our Singapore Savings Account.

IBG GIRO requires longer waiting time, as compared to instantaneous transfer via FAST. Then again, some of us can bear longer waiting time, as long as the currency exchange rate is more favourable to us BigPay users.

Since it is local transfer of money, our Singapore banks should not deduct inward remittance fee, from our money.

Well done, BigPay! notworthy.gif rclxm9.gif

I definitely will consider Bigpay, for my future needs of international bank transfer.

Which bank should I use, for fastest crediting of the money via Local Bank Transfer from BigPay Prepaid MasterCard?

Logically speaking, it should be the same bank used by Tranglo Sdn Bhd, which is the remittance company engaged by BigPay, so that the fund is credited via intrabank transfer.

Previous posts seemed to suggest that it is Maybank. Is it still valid as of now?

Thank you for your information. smile.gif
