Which is also a 6 bit panel. sweat.gif

If you ask me, I've compared both panels and if I were you, I will go for the DELL due to the price and warranty. The difference in quality between the two panels is not justified by the price difference of both.

A 6-bit panel can produce 262,144 colors (64 colors per RGB channel) while an 8-bit panel produces 24-bit color by outputting 256 colors per RGB channel, resulting in a total of 16,177,216 colors. To compensate for this, 6-bit panels use special dithering techniques to simulate colors that it can't natively produce (usually by making adjacent subpixels flash between two colors to create the illusion). For a lot of people, a 6-bit panel is as good as an 8-bit one and they can't tell the difference, but there are others that can see the difference and it annoys them.

Just in case you're interested, the easiest way to tell the difference between a 6-bit and an 8-bit panel is by checking out the viewing angle. 8-bit panels have a wider viewing angle than 6-bit panels (around 178° for 8-bit panels compared to anything between 130 and 170° for 6-bit panels).

Yes, personally tested it before. 720p movies will still cause artifacts and pixelation using 22". The one you should look for when watching movies is only Full HD 1080p to get total perfection movie. smile.gif

all 22" lcd monitor, be it dell, lg or samsung...can playback 720p movie without any problem as it's under its native resolution of 1050p.

however, i don't think you can get any 720p dvd movies in the market...dvds are made in 640px480p resolution...some of the dvd players especially with HDMI output, the pictures are upscaled to 720p which are 'artifacts'.

all 22" lcd monitor has an optimum resolution of 1050 lines hence it's not considered as a full HD monitor... only 24" and above are actually considered as full HD monitor
