yup, you are rite...

btw, have u tried to waive visa electron annual fee?
*
I spent more than RM10,000/pa since i started using it since January 2007. So the annual fee was automatically waived. Cancelled it in late February this year in favor of a credit card.

QUOTE(lostasylum @ Apr 30 2009, 11:40 AM)
if that's the case, how would you withdraw money from paypal if you wanted to? i always thought the whole reason of using a debit card to verify your account was because it would be a lot cheaper for you to withdraw your money?
*
Don't know about this as i do not earn money over the net and therefore have no experience in this. I needed to verify my Public Bank VISA Electron to my PayPal account 2 years ago because i frequently opted to pay some merchants overseas via PayPal because i trust PayPal. The problem is that you can only pay using your credit/debit card via PayPal for a certain amount of money and when you have reached the limit, you will need to get your credit/debit card verified or else you won't be able to make payment anymore.

Then you are wrong, i got the card few days ago and able to verify paypal acc............yeah!

Good that you can get it verified but you won't be able to withdraw fund using your EON Bank Debit Mastercard (as clearly stated in PayPal). But it won't be a problem as long as you only use PayPal to pay other merchants and not earning money through it.

You might want to try EON Bank Combi Mastercard (red one). A guy claimed he managed to get his verified.

Has anyone tried online transactions using visa electron from local banks?

I recently booked airline tickets for inter-euro travels and was charged very high 'admin' charges for using visa/mastercard credit cards.
eg:

flight ticket: £ 60

CC charge: £7
visa electron : free!

i was like wtf? i had no choice but to pay the charges.
Using visa electron seems like the logical choice. Is our local visa electron valid for overseas based transactions?
*
I assume you just booked a ticket on either Ryanair or Easyjet ? In Europe they seem to have this absurd rule and i don't know why either. Not sure about Standard Chartered Bank VISA Electron but Public Bank VISA Electron can be used overseas. I personally have used it on singaporeairlines.com several times before i got my very first credit card.

Do we need any document to submit for applying pb visa electron?
I submitted a photocopy of my MyKad and the application form only.

This might not be the correct thread to post this BAD NEWS but it is related to a debit card, somehow. Standard Chartered Bank has further reduced the interest rate for their much publicized E$AVER Savings Account to only 0.7% for balance between RM0 - RM100,000, 2.2% for RM100,001 - RM200,000 and 1.5% for deposit above RM200,000.

Password or PIN number?

Password or PIN number it is the same. It is a top secret thing that you should never reveal to anyone, including your wife biggrin.gif

QUOTE(GHz @ May 26 2009, 08:35 PM)
Is it? Got password? Been using SCB & Alliance bank Debit card for the part 6+ months, never encounter the case where I have to key in password or PIN number. Normally I use it at Hypermarket & Petrol Pump
You don't have to key in your PIN number like Bankard. The password is needed only when you need to check your card balance at the ATM or to withdraw money.

The interest rate already drop half then before, but still Standard Chartered Bank provide the interest rate higher than the other bank, don't they?
*
Indeed. When first launched, they were giving 2.5%, then reduced to 1.5% in February and now down to 0.7%. It is still higher than most banks but i no longer see the reason why should i keep this account anymore. Will move my money back to my existing banks and eventually close it down. Such as hassle to have so many bank accounts smile.gif

Looks very much like a lifestyle card (based on the card design). The annual fee is a bit high though at RM12/pa.

But can this card be verified by PayPal ? It is still so new. Less than a week old. And he must be an account holder with Public Bank to apply for "day2day VISA debit card".

Why don't you try to use the Public Bank "day2day" VISA debit card online first before you cancel your PBB VISA Electron ?

My friend just converted his conventional PB ATM card to PB Day2Day VISA Debit card. I think he's going to use it to book a room at www.genting.com.my. I only wondered why PB is charging its customers RM12/pa for this new ATM card while Maybank is charging only RM8/pa shakehead.gif

can i like convert it or change it without go to public bank? Public bank is so full everytime i go. I also opened a new saving account at the same day without any ATM card....

Don't think this is possible as this Day2Day card is also an ATM card linked to your savings/checking account. They will not mail the card to you. Instead they will issue the card to you on the spot, just like PBB MEPS ATM card. And you will also need to sign the Day2Day/ATM application form.

Even I used it to buy EasyJet ticket online, there were no extra charges. rclxms.gif

Many European low cost carriers have this very weird rule that if you use a credit card to buy a ticket from their website (such as Easyjet and Ryanair), they will charge you around GBP4 for each transaction but free if you are using VISA Electron.

QUOTE(dream-painter @ Jun 22 2009, 10:25 PM)
About the overseas withdrawal, I used HSBC ATM card, if we withdraw at the HSBC ATM, they charge us RM5, if withdraw at other banks' ATM, it would be RM10.
*
RM0 handling fee if you're using Premier ATM Card tongue.gif

Yeah, thought so too. As this card can only be issued if you have a savings/current account with Public Bank.
