RM0.50 penalty only applied for 5th withdrawal each month, so it is nearly impossible to be charged. who always go ATM withdraw cash many times? I dont believe. so it is better go for that first 4 withdraw free option.
You have no idea how many people are being penalized everyday for exceeding the free quota laugh.gif If you try to dig out some old threads someone posted on this very board that he was charged RM0.50 six times in a month. Total loss that month for him was RM3.00. There are so many people who like to spam ATM laugh.gif

about the design.. most user not only want a good services and good usages of card, but they will more prefer a card which looks great/beauty. this card .. little special.. use cherry, they can use tiger also.
Well, if design is such a big concern then you might want to consider EON Bank Combi Mastercard or UOB Bank debit Mastercard. Both cards can be used online but then if you want to add these cards into your PayPal account to withdraw money from it then Maybank and Public Bank would be your only choice as you can only use your VISA debit or VISA Electron to withdraw money from PayPal. Mastercard is not supported.

i actually think that the free quota is unfair... i mean, you're a bank, and you're providing a service. you're already making money from the money that people put into the bank and you still wanna make money like that?

of course, people will say that you shouldn't take out small amounts at a time, but then again, that's the perogative of the user no?
i personally have never kena penalised before lah.. but even then, i still think that the quota is quite ridiculous...
I personally think the free quota system given by Maybank is very fair. Why you might ask ? Because for all other banks we need to pay RM8 per annum for their ATM cards. Maybank however is free and if you might need to use it a lot but you do not exactly have much money inside your Maybank account, then you can always choose to pay RM8/pa and withdraw cash from any Maybank ATM as many times as you like regardless how much your account balance is.

Besides Maybank, Citibank is the only bank that do not charge an annual fee for their ATM card but then finding Citibank ATM in Malaysia could be quite a task.

citibank ATM locater
Yes. That's right. They have only 7 branches in Malaysia and all the ATM are located inside the bank. They have confirmed to open 4 more branches next year but still no news where these 4 new branches are going to be.

Hello guys. I'm 14 years old this year and i decided to get a prepaid credit card ( or debit card) because i want to do a spot of online shopping. My parents refuse to order things for me ( guess they're too paranoid... tongue.gif  ) and i don't qualify for a credit card.
If EON Bank is your preferred bank then it is advisable that you apply for EON Bank Combi debit Mastercard instead. What you need to do is to visit any EON Bank branch and open a savings account with them and an EON Bank Combi debit Mastercard will be issued to you right away. For more information on this card please here the link here > EON Bank Combi debit Mastercard

foreign bank tends to have more restirction when opening new branch.
All the foreign banks are allowed to open another four branches next year. For those with a dedicated Islamic banking subsidiary such as HSBC Amanah and OCBC Al-Amin, they can open four conventional branches and four Islamic branches.

Both UOB Bank and Citibank have confirmed they will open four new branches respectively next year. No information where the Citibank branches are going to be but for UOB Bank, the new branches will be in Balakong, Ampang, USJ and Ijok.

may i know why u said "but it is less fraud protection" for debit card? i thought creadit or debit card have the same level of fraud protection??
When you swipe your debit card, the money will be deducted right away from your account and in the unlikely event of a fraudulent charges made to your debit card, it will be hard for you to retrieve your loss.

Unlike credit card, we are using the bank's money and all credit cardholders have a limited liability of RM250 only. So when your credit card has been compromised and when someone charged RMxxxx into your credit card and you are able to prove it is a fraud, you will need to pay a maximum of RM250 only. This feature is not available for debit card.

one simple question, can i use debit card when go overseas?
Yes. You can. But for Maybank cherry VISA debit card, you need to activate the card for overseas usage at any Maybank ATM nationwide. As for Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card, no activation is needed.

oo thanks MilesAndMore .. i think mine is cherry one doh.gif
Okay. Then you just need to go to any Maybank ATM to activate it. Just follow the screen instructions. You can choose to activate it permanently. You can also set your daily ATM withdrawal and purchase limit over the ATM. Good luck !

Retail transactions exclude casino and petrol transactions, cash advances, balance transfer, government-related payment and utility bills payment via www.pbebank.com, PB Telebanking and ATM.
As written in their website and above, petrol transactions do not qualify for the 0.5% cash rebate. But then, if you have their Day2Day VISA Debit card, you can use it to pay for fuel and the current cash rebate is 1%. After December the cash rebate for fuel and groceries shopping will be 0.8%.

hey guys... finally got my PB VISA Electron Debit Card.... but still can't use yet cause the PIN hasn't arrived... .
I used to be a PBVE cardholder and if my memory serves me correctly, you can use the card right away, even if you haven't got the PIN number. You can swipe it at any shops displaying the VISA logo as well as making payments online. Certain online websites will need you to register for Verified by VISA before you can proceed to make a payment, so remember to register for Verified by VISA in Public Bank first.
