8600GT : 22.4GB/sec
8600GTS : 32GB/sec

That's why 7900GS sometimes can pull out better fps compare to 86XX, but not always.
LOL. He did mentioned the reason in other thread.

I found out that my 8600gt pre-OC'ed, when OC the memory at 1000mhz, in the 3dmark06 "return of the proxycon" test, total frames rendered is fewer than in 800-950mhz, and I found the best spot for memory is at 900mhz, where no crash at all

the core is keep at 688mhz constant, and i only run the first test to calc. total frames, 900mhz can render 1890, 800mhz can render 1840, but 1000mhz cant even render 1800 frames and occasionally crash during the test.

I guess its due to insufficient of volt though.

but not for 8600gts though, gts has external power source enabling it to be OC;ed even further, this is different than 8600gt, no matter how hard u OC the GT, it can barely hit the GTS performance.

but in overall, G8x has advantages over 7 series due to its smaller fabrication nm, thus can reach higher clock than G7x, and IMO it can reduce latency as well?

should i go for 8500GT or 7600GS?

The 158.43 Vista 32-bit drivers install as 158.42. Weird. The link on the nvidia site also doesn't work, removing the whql at the end of the filename will let you download the file labelled as 158.43, but it's still 158.42. Also, in the Game profile section of the Nvidia Control Panel is a profile for Gears of War. Hmmmm.

DirectX10 is a whole new ball game! It's totally different and the level of realism is dumbfounding. Up to it's physics...(you see the way those soldiers twitch and convulse when you shoot them?!?!)

anyway my stats are these, avg 34 snow 30 cave 33 (my settings are 1280x960 with 8xAA, 16xA with high HDR and all other high settings and medium settings for shadow)
i'm running e6300 (OC to 2.8ghz), EVGA 8800 GTS 640mb KO ACS3 (gpu 580mhz memory at 1800mhz). Damn my 96 pipelines!! NOw gotta save up for another GTS. Hopefully with this hd 2900xt, nvidia would drop their gts line.

u just need to install the DX April07 update

it running.......googled them up. but the issue here is the crashing of the game after a few seconds. the test ran flawlessly but not the actual game demo..

i am now dowloading the new driver....hope this fixes the bug

NVIDIA plan to port Gears Of War to the PC just like Lost Planet been ported to PC?

I ran Lost Planet performance test at 1024x768 (My display are not wide screen) and everything default (4xAA 16xAF) and I got 58 for snow and 28 for cave.

Using Windows XP driver 158.22. But there is still bug in the game itself. Well work in progress~

Gear of War more suitable for console IMHO. but if available for pc, why not? seem like Only On X360 is totally crap nowadays. many of their hits ported. most recent ported Xbox games i can recall is Jade Empire.

8600gt is a very good midrange card, can run almost all games i have on max setting with 1680*1050 res.. oblivion, stalker, cnc3, dark mersiah, dawn of magic, gothics3.. ) vote for this card;))

Hmm, how did you get 1600x1200 ar ? On my Dell E228WFP 22", highest the menu allows is 1360x768. Anybody managed to run it at 1680x1050 ? Tq.


Edit: Also bro, just realized, why are you running it on DX9.0c ? Did you download the correct demo ? There are 2 versions of the demo. www.nzone.com has both versions and good speeds.

I'm using 22", the max resolution for me in lostpaneldx10 demo is 1600x??? i forgot the firgure.. but i am sure it allows u to change to that resolution.

i dunno. its just there.. see the thumbs. but teh thing is what aspect radio is that. ist not cool. looks stretchy. thats why in my eralier screen grab i change it to 1600x1000. still smaller than my 22" native. maybe i should play around with the INI file to get that resolution..

ABOUT GOW

i think microsfy made a slip about GOW on PC a few months ago. i read about it in PCGAMER march 2007 ( that means the mag printed on Feb).MS let slip of some secret Games for Windows display mock up and the guy from GoW is on it.. i'm not suprised that GoW will be ported. with Windows Live coming they are planning to let us pc to play with 360 owners. and what a way to do it too by porting 360's bestgame. it's a no brainer really.

btw........HALO.....its bloody overated.played the game a few years back. wasn't impressed at all. i rather waste my time playing MAFIA. now that is a game begging for a sequel!
