QUOTE(stephantsen @ Jul 3 2018, 09:08 PM) I thought it was mentioned last time (fine print) umobile video streaming (iflix/Netflix/YouTube) must use their video-onz which is capped at SD speed. Only the normal browsing etc at full speed. Is their policy changed now? This post has been edited by Ngto: Jul 3 2018, 09:27 PM |

Guys, for some reason, my unifi mobile is always at H+ or 3G. I can rarely get 4G on my phone. My phone supports LTE Band 5. Out of the 20gb free LTE data, I'm using less than 1GB because of this and that was because that one time, I was at an area with really strong coverage. After that one time, I can barely use it.
I'm always smacked right in the middle of the coverage areas. Anyone having the same problem or do I need to somehow force my phone to go only LTE? This post has been edited by lokgotz: Jul 4 2018, 12:29 AM |

There are various reasons why you can't get LTE.I'm always smacked right in the middle of the coverage areas. Anyone having the same problem or do I need to somehow force my phone to go only LTE? Let start with: 1. Your phone have weak antenna that it can't latch to LTE consistently. 2. You located where LTE signal is available but in band 38/40, while your phone only support band 5. 3. You located where LTE signal is weak (due to distance from LTE tower) while 3G signal is better. For #1 & #2, do try to get another phone which support ALL Band 5, 38 & 40 to test. If it fares better, then your phone is the reason. For #3, you can check using Open Signal (or any other app that provide distance to celular tower) to get an idea of the local coverage in your area. My bad there. Should've made it clearer. It's a new phone (Redmi Note 5) so I doubt it has a weak antenna. Not sure. 3. Most probably it's due to this but I'm located right in the middle of the coverage area. Not border. Will check using Open Signal. Thanks for the help. EDIT: Installed Open Signal and checked. 4G coverage is spotty at best. The map in Open Signal and unifi's own coverage map is so different. I know the reason why I can't connect to 4G now. QUOTE(#Victor @ Jul 4 2018, 05:45 PM) some ppl mentioned if i'm in 4g/lte, it will used 4g data first and some said its 3g data first. Mine was using 3g data first too even i'm on 4g+ network whole day. This is stupid, which means that the 4g data will never utilized until i have no 3g data. which also mean i cannot go to rural area where 4g coverage is not applicable because the 4g will never be finish use as i need 3g data as backup. |

As for new SIM, no matter how it will consume the 50MB (3G/LTE) data first. Mine was using 3g data first too even i'm on 4g+ network whole day. QUOTE(alexanderclz @ Jul 4 2018, 07:49 PM) But T&C said other way round.7. PRICING GUIDE, CHARGES AND RATES (a) On High Speed Internet. The quota will be deducted based on the following priority of usage: (i) Freebies quota (if any) (ii) High Speed LTE quota only (iii) High Speed 3G/LTE quota (iv) Basic Internet quota I think it just take the freebies first. Then once you topup 3G/LTE data, it will go back to normal. This post has been edited by khk1987: Jul 4 2018, 10:50 PM |
