I gotta admit I had high expectations on Wechat Pay here, but not anymore thanks to their long delay before and the current situation. But I can say that it's not gonna do well here for the time being, not sure about after few years though. Wechat Pay in China is successful because everything is unified there in terms of the services that Wechat provides, and also the fact that literally everyone there uses Wechat.

Unlike here, bunch of useless e wallets flooding the market.

Just hope for the best on Wechat Pay and Boost to be our daily app in the future, even though the experience of using e wallet here isn't good, but I still enjoy using it.
*
The best e-wallet I have so far is Samsung Pay if it is even considered as e-wallet.
Now I'm trying Boost but in Penang, it has very limited coverage. I can't utilize to full extent but based on current usage experience, it's still above average!
As for BP and WeChat Pay, they're at the bottom of the list.

hmmm, well samsung pay helps to store credit cards and uses the 'wave' function. e-wallets i guess we need to topup with one way or another then to use it?

Each credit card stored in usable anytime, anywhere even though it has no pre-stored/pre-loaded money!
Which one is more dangerous you think?

I was't talking about you but referring to you and your scenario. Appreciate your efforts to help him solve his problem but I can't blame him for feeling frustrated. Just didn't want him losing his cool.

well, it remains to be seen how wechat pay can be different from boost. if mostly the same, then boost has wider coverage.
*
So far, Wechat Pay is just your typical e wallet that's just embedded into your Wechat, what it can do is almost the same as other e wallets. Boost still wins in terms of wider coverage (although not that wide tbh), cashbacks and shake rewards.

I'm willing to bet that Boost will be leading the e wallet market here for the next few years, but if they keep up with their aggressive expansion and cashback promotions of course.

Also, one thing that Wechat Pay here lacks is that they still don't have the payment type where we users can pay by scanning the merchant's code, this is really useful for smaller merchants like pasar malam stalls and food trucks, just like what Boost is doing, but I believe they will sort this out soon, they better sort out their current issues first.

Samsung Pay is more to mobile payment, similar to Favepay (although recognized as an e wallet by many), just that Samsung Pay is way superior because of the way it works.

Btw, there's no KK in Penang right?

So its just wechat bugs, and you are those unlucky one.
Better ask support team to patch asap.

As a fellow Penangite, I agree that Boost's penetration in Penang is pretty meh. Based on their list of merchants, they're much more concentrated in Klang Valley.

I wonder why though, not that Penang Island is a small city, even some smaller towns have KK mart.

KK mart is basically the store to go if you like using e wallets.

Better hope 7e, Mynews, 99 speedmart etc. will accept Boost and Wechat Pay soon.
