whats about Mybank QRpay? TouchNgo?
Maybe i should try Boost and Favepay.

I ditched Maybank. Maybank is no longer my favourite bank.

Failed to register TnG App when they first deployed the app that supports reloading physical card via the app but it was recalled.
Now the TnG App is purely a e-wallet of its own with no linkage to the physical TnG card I believe.

QUOTE(talexeh @ Aug 22 2018, 06:36 PM)
Almost non-existent LOL. I only know of 1 restaurant in Penang which accepts Boost while a couple more that uses Favepay.
*
FP is more existent in Penang especially in F&B business.

Even the login for the app is not the same as the TnG portal LOL.

Anyway, TnG app will definitely see a huge increment of users soon when they start to introduce RFID.

IMO, the e wallets to avoid currently are Maybank QRpay, TnG, Vcash, Kiplepay and other lesser known ones. They serve not much purpose other than hogging your phone storage.

There's a chance that you will install TnG, if they get their RFID and QR Transit (public transport) right, of course.

Boost and Favepay are the way to go for e wallets, Wechat Pay is still gonna be in your Wechat anyways so it wouldn't matter if you use it or not.

TnG is always a closed environment business.
They have secured their rice bowl via toll payment and LRT/MRT/bus/parking ticket payment.

I use Boost to pay PBA water bill and reload my parents DiGi prepaid (2 numbers).
That's all!

Wish they can add IWK bill in the future. LOL

David83, suddenly I got an idea.

Try uninstall your WeChat. (I know you have done this many times)
Then wipe clean everything related to WeChat in your phone. I mean, ,make sure you delete every folder belonging to WeChat that is left over after the uninstallation (like, delete the whole folder named "Tencent" in your storage) (provided that no important chat history you want to retain) (Am suggesting this because even if we uninstall, some folder will still remain right? wipe them clear all)

then reinstall the lastest apk.

try to see if this works.

But he has tried to install on another phone IINM. I think it's his WeChat ID that has been locked down or something like that.

EDIT: I take that back. He has even tried to register as new user LOL.

TnG did introduce a solution for that but it was a stupid one, after you reloaded the app, you gotta purposely look for a dedicated machine and transfer the amount from the app to the TnG card via that dedicated machine. After the massive amount of negative ratings, they scrapped it thank goodness.

However, someone did mention that we will be able to link our TnG card to the app next year.

I'm just second guessing, that does this have something to do with having identity registered on RMB wallet ?

I guess it starts with the people's mentality in that particular country.

Like South Korea, people there prefer to pay using debit/credit cards for everything, even for a bottle of mineral water in a convenience store.

Like Hong Kong, they are lucky to have a unified card payment service like Octopus which is supported in almost everywhere, basically the company behind Octopus did everything right from the start, unlike our bloody money sucking TnG.

Also an extra mention to Japan, with their unified card payment service like Suica, basically a card that can be used almost everywhere, and can be linked to your Apple Pay or Google Pay.

With these kind of cashless societies, many people there are comfortable when paying by phone.

But we're not, cuz cash is still king for us.

It's kinda weird, no? It's like almost every Tom, Dick & Harry Ali, Ah Kao & Muthu are totally aware on what the gap in Malaysia is & at the same time, the recipe to success seems to have been laid bare for all to copy. Hire a good CS with good response time & that's like maybe 50% of the battle won?

Unfortunately, based on the few eWallets that have sprouted up in Malaysia, none of them have yet to get this right. sweat.gif

TnG is a total failure.
They tried to mimick HK and SK but failed miserably.
With their closed environment business model, it is not going to leap anywhere forward.
Hope with the new government, they realize that they cannot be staying at the same technological time point forever!

Both merchant and consumers need to pay active role.
Cashless or mobile payment is a long way to go for MY.

That's not just a problem with e wallets, same thing can be applied with the CS from other services too.

The slacking off attitude is still common here unfortunately.

Basically, most Malaysians are still more comfortable with paying by cash. Most ppl here will only try out new stuffs when there's a hype for it, and also when there's something to get in return.

Users want freebies and cashback, but Merchants only needed low charges and frequently fund releases.
