'major intake' for what?....

and if you can't even find simple information like this with access to the internet....

p/s i just realised the question is meant to look for tenants, not studies..... hmm.gif
*
wink.gif Yes. Looking for tenants targeting IMU students when new intakes flock in.

they will offer places based on the merits of your pre-u results and interview, but you will need to accept the offer within usually a week or two, and acceptance of offer is by paying up the 1st semester's fees....

Few people will willingly pay rm40k if they have no money to continue the course. Some however did, and when the expected funding they thought they may be able to receive did not come, they have to drop out.....

that is tacit acknowledgement, albeit clothed in very diplomatic language, that chiropractice is NOT science or evidence based, and hence not compatible with their new research orientated direction and programmes.....hence they are letting the programme go....

I'm an international student (from Singapore/Australia) beginning the phase one of the medicine twinning programme in Feb 2014. Is it important to have a good grasp of the Malay language for phase one? Being Singaporean I did not have a chance to learn Malay (I learnt Mandarin as a second language, first being English) except to know several common words. I know that for the first few semesters teaching is mainly in the university, but what concerns me is having to converse with patients and doctors, or having to read Malay in the hospitals especially in the last semester before we transfer overseas. Anyhow, I am very good at languages, and I don't think I'll have problem learning a substantial amount of it fast. My father and grandmother are also very fluent in Malay, so I can learn from them.

Find it yourself, much better. Don't have to get kicked out by IMU after every semester also. Better facilities!

Hi, any bpharm seniors here?smile.gif
I am going to study bpharm in this coming september. (if I didnt get any ipta )
I am a stpm leaver.

I heard that bpharm in imu is not as good as before. many indian lectures and they actually dont have much experience. is it true?
because BPharm in IMU is really very expensive. My family might enable to support me. I need to think carefully. Since IMU has good reputation, so my family encourage me to study here although fee is expensive.
I wish to know more about Bpharm's lectures in IMU.
anyone could give me some brief explanation or suggestion for me ?

i happened to chance upon this thread after googling one of my lecturer's names..

Anyway, to aong, it is not compulsory per se to have a good grasp of the Malay language for Phase One in Bukit Jalil, but you will suffer whenever there are clinic or hospital visits as the patients basically speak Malay. Pretty much like reading medicine in Russia, your studies are in English, but with the local patients, you have to learn the lingo.

Almost all non-local students rent rooms at Vista Komanwel (there are Vista Komanwel A, B and C). Renting privately is often the better choice as there is simply more flexibility and often a better rental rate. VK A is the furthest from uni (hence cheapest rates), VK B is directly opposite, and VK C is next to VK B. VK B is the most popular due to shortest walking times, but VK C has a much tighter security than VK B.

I shall defend the IMU Medical Local Programme. The Seremban students actually get a better training than those going overseas for twinning, and the hospital doctors have noted that Seremban graduates are generally of excellent standards and are well suited for treating patients here.

As of late, public security in general is pretty poor in the Klang Valley. Have to learn to be streetsmart and always watch out for yourself and your friends. Snatch thefts, robberies etc happen pretty often

And so, you are from the local IMU programme. And it's pretty obvious, isn't it?

does it really matter which programme i'm from?

Anyway it's easy to get into IMU provided you fulfill the minimum academic requirements (check their website for up-to-date info) AND can afford to pay the fees. That's about it.

How does IMU advise students who express interest or ask how they go about doing their postgraduate overseas, after the completion of the local IMU MBBS program? Just curious.

I think so...
From what the Student Representatives Council have told us, I think the changes made are
-No more EOS3
-No more resits(means you fail, you repeat semester or leave the school...)
-Foundation 1 and 2 are combined and finished in one semester....

Woo.. 9 systems in one EOS is crazy.
CNS and MSK is no fun.
Taking into consideration that OSCE will be all-in-one as well,
you'll cry for an extra 24 hours per day. @@
*
Omg totally!!

The thing is, having all 9 systems in one exam is one thing, but to just go into it without any prior formative assessment or at least trial exam? Like ask anyone and they'll tell you that even though sitting for SAQ and OSPE in eos2 was torture, it prepared them so well for facing eos3, and their results improved so much in eos3. And these experiences prepared them for eos5. That's what's the most insane thing about it. I mean seriously like if you had all 9 systems in one exam but you still had eos2 and eos3 then at least you would have had some practice especially with OSCE. Like in the new curriculum the least they can do is give them mock osce. Those kids really won't have any idea what they're getting into and they're gonna be so stressed and will need psychiatric management.

It's really sad. The least they can do is ask the students their opinion first, or at least make sure they know about it before enrolling.

Hmmm. This one you have to go personally to the counselor, or to your personal mentor (if you're an IMU student, you should have a lecturer assigned to you as your mentor). For me, I asked doctors working in local hospitals. Apparently it all depends on exactly which field you want to do your postgrad in, where you want to work in the future, and of course, how much money you have/are willing to spend. $$$$$ is very important in medical studies

Oh, btw one thing. IMU MBBS local programme is not currently recognised in Singapore, if you're wondering. However, with a higher qualification e.g. MRCP/MRCS, one can work as a doctor in Singapore.

I daresay I'm qualified to comment on the new medical programme syllabus.

1. No resits if fail exams. Either repeat 1/2 semesters or out you go.
2. We do get a mock osce before the actual OSCE. (usually within a month of the exam)
3. Sems 2, 4 and 5 are the "checkpoint EOS" sems. i.e., pass sem 2 to get to sem 3; that wipes the slate clean, you start sem 3, pass sem 4 to get to sem 5 with clean slate.. Sems 1 and 3 are auto-progress semesters (you can't get kicked out for failing)
4. For those in twinning programme, results up to sem 4 only are taken into consideration for the ranking by the partner medical schools. However, failure in sem 5 is not acceptable (duhh)
5. In a nutshell, the main change to the curriculum is the timing (all content of previously Sems 1&2 now put into just sem 1), and additional clinical exposure (Sem 5 is all about clinical stuff - pre-pre-clinical phase)
