Hi,
I am an applicant from singapore interested in attending imu pms programme. I have some queries with regard to their admission process. Firstly, is there an exact cut off for the pms with singapore a level results? Will they look into your co curriculars together with your grades to decide on an offer for you? Secondly, how is the interview like? Is it more for formality, or they really want to sieve out people. Thirdly, are there many Singaporeans studying there? Lastly, I've read about the unpredictable matching system in imu. If I were to put all the choices as UK would I have a chance of getting a school not on my list of choices? I'm predicted AABB for my a levels. Can you apply with predicted grades? Thank you for the help, really appreciate it smile.gif

1. Cut off
There will be an exact cut off for the UK GCE, but I do not know if they have one for the Singapore Alvls. It is normally aab-aaa.

2. CoCo
I don't believe anyone can answer this unless he/she works in the admission department. But from what I feel, yes they do, because interviewers did ask me a lot about my extra coco activities.

3. Interview
I'd say it's both. It will be more towards the formality side for the local mbbs program, and more towards the sieving out candidates side for the pms programme. However this is only based on my perception. Again only someone from the admission team will know the exact mechanism behind all this.

4. Matching Process
Yes. The matching process is quite opaque. You rank the universities, and the universities rank you. Your ranking carries 5x more weightage. At the end you will have a score for each of the university. You will either get the highest or lowest score pms (can't remember sorry). If you choose Jefferson you will not be able to choose the other 4 PMSes, and if you fail to get into Jefferson they will but you into any pms with a slot. And of course most importantly you will need to pass all 5 semesters.

5. Forecast results?
Yes, I too applied with my forecast results.

Hello. Have fun in orientation. It's those time for bonding, and make sure you make the most out of it as I reckon you'll be sticking with your group mates most of the time after that.

Have you considered any volunteer works which might help you on your way towards becoming a doctor?? It'd be lovely if you could shadow a few doctors and see what they do every day, too. However, volunteering sounds much of a better choice as you will be studying medicine for the rest of your life and on top of that, it makes you grow as a person. =)

ABB is fine but they will definitely look for candidates who's got better results first which I think, you might be left out as there are too many AAA students around. If you want it, you work for it. Switching of option in Dentistry is not uncommon when it comes to changing from PDS to local program, it's the other way round that doesn't usually happen. I doubt you'll be the only one who'll want to switch though.

Hi everyone,I've sent an e-mail to IMU but haven't received a response for quite some time so I might as well try my luck here smile.gif

I've just finished my SPM and I'm interested in medicine.IMU offers Foundation in Science right ? If I do take that course as a foundation, would it be recognised by universities overseas ? I'm planning to take the 2.5 years here and 2.5 years overseas(preferably aussie) .Would I be able to do that with Foundation in Science ?

I'm planning to take A-levels but it's lengthy so I would wanna go for a faster alternative.Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance smile.gif

Not aware that IMU offers Foundation in Science. Unusual for them to not reply to your email.

imu does not have their own foundation programme....they take in students mainly from a levels, oz year 12, stpm, matrik, ib and some recognised foundations like mufy....

but they have outsourced their foundation to kbu....

for the pms programme, they don't really need to take from foundation programmes, they have more than enough qualified applicants from the mainstream pre-u........

there are very few pms places in australia....but may not be popular nowadays, as there is already insufficient internship places in oz, and international students will likely have to look elsewhere for jobs....

Apparently I havent made up of my mind and I wonder should I just pay it first as I really scared the Bpharm course has left no seat to me and hell no I don't want go to Sept intake.

But on the other hand I don't think I have already made up my mind .
But I scared there's no seat left too ! rclxub.gif
