THANKS .will submit forecast and see what happen.IMU did confirm they would  offer when final AUS year 12 result is available.... but may conduct interview based on forecast result .They are however non committal on issuing conditional offer.
*
You will reconsider coming back and do your medical program in IMU? You have accepted UTAS' conditional offer too...not keen on Tassie?

utas remains the choice.IMU is a good backup.utas conditional offer is full of uncertainties.

MONASH AND QUEENSLAND .the latter has given a conditional offer for their provisional 6 year MBBS,no news from former.
*
If I am not mistaken, for onshore applicants, only MUFY students have been given conditional offers by Monash. The rest will have to wait till november for interview invites, and then actual offers in Jan sometime.

I realise a correction is needed...am doing australian matriculation here in malaysia not in Aus.
No interview for UQ.IMU even for 2/12 is still feasible .
*
Ausmat scores will be converted to ATARs and equivalent, am sure. Are the terms and conditions imposed by UTAS similar for onshore and offshore? There's the standard results requirements, and the police and immunisation checks. I would think it's a standard conditional offer. A few more weeks till it's all over eh? All the best!

msian ausmat (sace or wace) and sam (sace) programmes and results are exactly the same as year 12 in all oz states (except qld) and ranked with an atar score......there is no conversion required.....
*
Wasn't aware of this! Good that it's standardised (save for qld). Some interesting threads at atarnotes.com as well.

Confirmed offer. I finished my Alevels in June so applied for Feb intake on Actual results. smile.gif

I was hoping you could tell me whether students are adequately taught at IMU. How is the teaching and are they prepared well enough for their transition to the PMS?

let me know!

Congratulations!

Hey guys,

After finishing MBBS or BDS, are we considered Phds? Or must we do another specialisation to be qualified?
*
Nope! PhDs = Doctorate of Philosophy!

issit possible to take MD degree in IMU besides MBBS? Coz i saw the jefferson medical college (USA) at the partner medical schools. and medical schools in usa oni have MD degree.
*
That is because all medical programs in the US are based on post-graduate entries. They do not have undergraduate medical courses.

thanks so much. if i stay in imu for 2nd phase and do the housemanship for 1 year in msia, can i still bcome a Foundation Doctor in UK to become a surgeon? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_doctor)
*
I don't think so. You'll have to do your clinical years in the UK.

how about doing a specialisation in a foreign university ? will i be recognised by the medical council of that particular country? will the university even accept a 'non-recognised' mbbs degree?
*
I think you do your specialization WHILE working in a hospital ( preferably a teaching hospital), and not in a university. So your basic mbbs degree will need to be recognised by the foreign country's medical board first before anything else. Correct me if I understood wrongly.

so what is my route if i do a PDS(local degree) in imu and i want to end up in Australia as a specialist or just a normal dentist?
*
If local, it would be IMU BDS (local) as PDS = partner dental school, ie overseas.

My relative's AS results are 3 A's (Maths/physics/Bio) and B in Chemistry. Now working hard to get A for Chemistry in coming May 2012 A2 exam. If finance and A level results  permits, the relative intends to apply UCAS for September 2013 UK Medicine intakes.

Our respective "relatives" will be the "deaths" of us! *collective groans"

Good Luck! You're basically doing what I was doing last year, just not the IMU route.

No, no.

Per Year in UK pre-clinicals is 13xxx pounds for Aberdeen and about 18xxx pounds for Leeds smile.gif .

Not sure if i'm getting at what you mean..... hahaha... blush.gif

No worries! Just that to help our relatives achieve their goals, we spend many many hours paving the way for them. It all used to be so easy, and it's ironic that sometimes too much information may not be very "king-ly".

Didn't realise Aberdeen is much less expensive! Should have applied!!

Glasgow is matching Imperial pound for pound for the first 2 years!

Imperial has the added advantage of 1 more year in London, courtesy of their 6 years program!

I am not too sure whether there is any significant difference/advantage to graduates from a lesser known uni compared to those of the Russell Group in terms of attachment and employment opportunities over there.

The difference in fees can be quite a lot and such savings can be deployed for a good car or a useful holidays during the summer.

I'd like to know as well, in relation to F1 and F2. Shouldn't this be discussed in "Calling All Med Students"?

feeling bored writing my report so i'm back here looking at lowyat forums.
lol.... anyway, i'm studying in leeds now after transferring thru the imu-pms route in 2010. 4th yr now.

regarding ur qw if med graduates from russell grp makes a difference for f1&2... NO
they recently revamped the f1/2 applications and it's now point based (lol.. like everything in the UK. visa application is also point based)
so you get points for having published research, presenting in conferences, etc (points are hard to come by ;( )
not too sure about the details but i think they do look at your academic standing in uni as well and award points based on where you are in your batch.
the whole application form is like an essay paper as well. they ask you things like: describe a situation where you've shown leadership skills in 500 words or something. and they give u points based on ur answers.

then starting from my batch, we all have to sit for a situational-judgement exam thing where we get points based on our scores. i heard it's an mcq paper where they give you a situation [eg: u overheard ur colleague insulting the patient with another colleague. do you: 1) report him to GMC (medical council in UK) 2) talk to him 3) report him to your consultant 4) ignore ]

so yea... ur points will then indicate how likely you'll get a competitive deanery/program (eg: london)
*
Thanks for this! I read the program was once again oversubscribed this year. Any idea if all were given a spot eventually? Will a UK citizen be awarded extra points, or are ALL UK grads considered equally? Thanks.
