They will only give you offer for the local programme....

but i called them up and they said i have to write in to tell them i want to put local as first choice and request for them to waitlist me for PDS. They said they won't consider my second choice unless my first choice really failed(waitlisted and failed)

that is what happens when they want to maximise their intakes.....get people to 'wait'......

most unis in uk/oz only consider your application for one intake......if you did not get an offer, you can reapply the next intake.....which basically means the next year, since they only have one batch each year.....

IMU-TJU is the only way in the world you can get into a US university backdoor, without getting a degree. It is getting really competitive.

And yes, TJU graduates will be treated as a US graduate, so chances of getting into residency is really high, like, really high, as compared to UK AUS NZ.

The latest info I get was - Neurosurg 80% success rate, ortho 65%, ophthal 60%, and others are usually 80% ++.

IMU-TJU graduates usually become a fully accredited consultant before age 30. blardy hell

Around 3 slots per intake will be given from TJU.
Competitions are strong as you'll be competing against 2 intakes of students, one yours the other whichever batch that is affecting your matching to US PMSes.
Let's say you have 6 slots per year but 10 people are fighting for it, then TJU will take in the top 6 who got the highest USMLE marks and drop the remaining 4.

I think now IMU has a new partner in the US, which is University of Miami.
Starting 2013 or 2014, there will be a few slots more to US if you wish to go there.

About the switching part, I guess IMU will not say no to your money if you wish to go to seremban.... But there are people who are denied switching to seremban before as the places are quite limited as well, judging from the current situation that more people are taking up our local program due to monetary reasons.

I think no one will be able to answer for your 3rd question here in lowyat? Only the seniors who have done it are able to tell you that but I don't think any of them are active here. But, chances are quite low as you'll be competing against the doctors in the WORLD, tapi kalau you graduate from US then different story la.... Coz you'll be treated as an US grad if u graduated from any uni in the US.

Ok. Good luck.

Hey I'm just curious. How did those who attempted to twin to TJF but failed to obtain necessary USMLE score ended up? Where did they eventually go? As I heard they can only be twinned to any PMSes that have empty slot left for them. Is it seriously the case? I'm thinking of attempting it but my batch has got 7-8 crazy people who have already set up their mind to do it. Any idea?

Added on July 26, 2011, 8:42 amOh ya btw, Uni of Miami is totally a not confirmed thing yet. And there's only suggestion that they might partner with IMU. The rep found it funny many of us actually flock around the uni's booth during the last academic meeting

Ok, so I really questioned my graduate pathway option when my friend suggested Uni of Edinburgh to be a much better choice, so

1)Is a Bmed science research degree really worth it? From what I understand if the paper turns out well it can really boost my CV when I'm applying for postgrad. What would be the general criteria for postgraduate entry? Do they take in account of your MBBS cGPA, and/or research achievements?

2)Will I be losing anything if I choose ANU or UQ? I know that as compared to Edinburgh students my clinical experience may be slightly less, but perhaps I can take up more electives in the time being to cover it.

3)I’ve also been suggested that choosing Aus as compared to UK will have the advantage of more working opportunities. How true is that? I know it’s quite hard to work in UK, but there’s no guarantee that Aus wont face a similar situation in the near future right?

4)Honestly, the main point that I cant get over with Edinburgh is that everyone seems to think that it’s prestigious, has its own status. How important is this actually? Will It affect my chances of getting into a postgrad?

Thank you for listening.
