IMU-TJU is the only way in the world you can get into a US university backdoor, without getting a degree. It is getting really competitive.

And yes, TJU graduates will be treated as a US graduate, so chances of getting into residency is really high, like, really high, as compared to UK AUS NZ.

The latest info I get was - Neurosurg 80% success rate, ortho 65%, ophthal 60%, and others are usually 80% ++.

IMU-TJU graduates usually become a fully accredited consultant before age 30. blardy hell

Ok, so I really questioned my graduate pathway option when my friend suggested Uni of Edinburgh to be a much better choice, so

1)Is a Bmed science research degree really worth it? From what I understand if the paper turns out well it can really boost my CV when I'm applying for postgrad. What would be the general criteria for postgraduate entry? Do they take in account of your MBBS cGPA, and/or research achievements?

2)Will I be losing anything if I choose ANU or UQ? I know that as compared to Edinburgh students my clinical experience may be slightly less, but perhaps I can take up more electives in the time being to cover it.

3)I’ve also been suggested that choosing Aus as compared to UK will have the advantage of more working opportunities. How true is that? I know it’s quite hard to work in UK, but there’s no guarantee that Aus wont face a similar situation in the near future right?

4)Honestly, the main point that I cant get over with Edinburgh is that everyone seems to think that it’s prestigious, has its own status. How important is this actually? Will It affect my chances of getting into a postgrad?

Thank you for listening.

you have to decide which of the 3 pathways you want, at the time of appication........and you CANNOT change after that........

it used to be quite easy to change from pms to local, but with the current intakes, that might be a problem now.....

however, generally, you CANNOT change to the pms stream if you opt for local......however, there have been some exceptional cases where some managed to get a pms seat, if they are not fully taken up........

Thx for reply..generally how many places available for pms graduate pathway for each batch?

there are always a few people who somehow managed to get switched to undergraduate pms.....but as rightly stated, it is difficult as the transition period is sometimes very short.....

i believe there are more graduate pms places now, but is not popular at all......i wonder if anyone has ever taken the sydney or melbourne route......the switch is easier, as you will need to stay back an extra year to do the b med sc, and that is adequate time for change.......

for those young ones.....you all may be interested to know that in the original system when imc became imu and started their local programme, the decision of which stream was only made towards the end of phase 1......you don't have top commit to a stream when entering.....
*
I prefer the original system..
I think graduate pathway will be popular since many uni nowadays follow us system
Do u seniors heard any news about addition of uni in graduate pathway in near future?

I guess they do have to "lock-in" places for all new incoming students to the PMS's.

but either way many people have claimed to have transferred from local to PMS via the graduate pathway and seems a few of my batch mates applied late into their 3rd or 4th semester and still got it!

not saying that its good to do that, and try to see you financial situation in 2 years time. but maybe if the situation permits its could be a good option.

anyways hows the new system at IMU, with pre-clinicals for 2 years?

Which batch are u from?unfortunately, the places for graduate pathway are fully filled for tis coming intake

tier 1 visas (general and psw) are both now closed, effective 6 april this year........

fy1 and 2 will continued to be available, as they come under tier 4.......however, at the end of fy2, a firm job offer will be needed to be eligible for the tier 2 visa........and that is possible, if one applies for a less popular specialisation, and/or has got good results (say, 1st class honours at mbbs) and/or has good references..........
