i'm surprised you didn't know about this. yes, IMU students typically only has 2 hrs of lecture/ day. but that's not including the 2x weekly PBL sessions, the clinical sessions we have every week, or once every 2 weeks depending on the system we're studying, and the occasional pathology, histology labs.
*
I didn't know that, since I'm not studying in IMU. I was just curious.

CyberSetan, how many hours or lectures do you have during your pre-clinicals?

The schedule for my college~

Typical week would consist of clinical postings or community medicine in the morning to noon on alternate days.
In the evening para-clinical subjects are taught followed by a lab session.

In the morning, clinical postings (in medicine/surgery/ophthalmology/pediatrics/dermatology/obg) starts at 9.00AM and finish at 11.45AM. Community medicine class would begin at 9.30AM and finish at 11.00AM.

Then there will be a break until 1.00PM.

Para-clinical subjects (Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic medicine, Pharmacology) starts at 1.00PM and ends at 3.00PM. Then a lab session from 3.00PM to 4.30PM.

This happens everyday from monday to friday. On saturday morning on alternate weeks, we are required to go for clinical postings as usual.

... by the end of the day, I will lay flat on my bed as soon as I reach my room....

Can I apply for the library ID if I'm an outsider? I just want to use the library facility during weekends. Is it possible for a non-student to apply?

i can't remember the answer for the bs one. i tend to forget all about the exam once it's over biggrin.gif
but people were arguing over the answer hence i only could remember that particular one

The crohns one went something this (it's not word for word and i might be missing out on a few other information; but just to give you a clue..):
a middle aged lady coming to the clinic complaining of blood found in the stool. then the doctor performed a rectal endoscopy.
then they asked what other investigations you would do, i think give 3 differential diagnosis,  and what were the indications for a rectal endoscope.
part 2/3: endoscope revealed ulcerations with skip lesions (yeah... it's pretty straight forward that it must be crohns). then they asked differences between UC and crohns. + some other qws.

i think i might have mix up the part 1,2 and 3. tongue.gif

i would say our meqs during eos were similar to the ones we had during summatives.
oh yeah.. we had a whole emq on asthma medication. matching their action to the drug name

coolguess>> a lot of people also performed badly for their summative 1 (cvs/respi) in my batch. but the grades improved a lot for summative 2 (haemato/git). so i think you're right about the upward trend for the 2nd summatives.
*
i didnt get Crohn's for my PBL this time. but I guess some stuff weren't covered in our lectures (indications for a rectal examination= covered that in CSU) .

apparently now PBL's will only appear in our EOS MEQ.

yeah lets hope we all do better this coming friday.

and remember we also have MMS !!

but overall IMU is really self directed learning. alot of the materials are there. MMS/OLIS/PBL, our lecture notes are sufficient most of the time, but this time i found myself reading my Robbin's Patho to make sure of my hematoloy diseases cause the lecture notes weren't very clear most of the time. especially lymphoma and leukemia's.

other lecture notes were self sufficient especially pharmacology, and physio (depends). our anatomy lectures are basically all taken from Netters and some from snells, but the explanation there is important, but i realized Nilesh Kumar, you go in and you write more extra stuff down than there is in the notes provided. most of it good information, but not much comes out for exam.

any FAMOUS questions for EOS 3?

EOS2 i think the famous question is the biliary tree question, came out for me and was in the MSOC question booklet. female and male repro. i cant remember the rest hehe.

uh i dont know if you can apply just to use the library, just borrow some ones imu id or just say youre a visitor and use the library ahhaa.

oh... i just thought that the free time IMU med students have are pretty infamous.
biggrin.gif

famous questions for EOS3? blood vessel and the bronchial tree anatomy was one of the "spotted" qws but didn't come out for ours. heart anatomy was one of the spotted qws and did come out.

i think they don't normally reuse the questions though as i didn't get the biliary tree one for EOS 2. i think i got anatomy of male repro though.
oh yea, all the best to those who are sitting for exams XD

yeah repro seems to come out FOR EVERY SEMESTER!

hmm TNM will also def come out right!

i honestly think, minus all the "where to find accommodation, FAQ's on courses" this is way better than that junk they call the imu forum. that is horrible.

thanks for your input monkey girl. yeah sem 5's said it came out for theirs. gonna have to go to MMS in the coming weeks to drill on the models!

quite lazy to continue on now. sad.gif just feel like relaxing and going to sleep. maybe hemopoiesis 1 and 2 first!!

just wondering, how was the batch's reception towards the matching results?
i heard sometimes even top students can't get their top 3 choices for the previous batches.

welcome. just remember to spend your time wisely during the study break. i remember slacking after the summatives and having trouble cramming everything in during the last 2 weeks before eos

oh we have top jpa scholars getting their 14th or 15th choices? how bout that?
but this batch we have someone getting his 22nd choice out of 25 PMS
generally this time many didn't get their more ideal PMS, mainly due to the facts that there are too many jpa scholars (jpa set rules on how we going to rank our PMS) and also too many PMS students in total as well
there's NO remaining place left from 25 PMS after the matching, just enough seats for everyone, so basically they have to slot more people into the less popular uni

ouch that sucks.
looks like my batch will face the same problems as well. i think we currently have about 120 PMS students (assuming that 200-80 (seremban students))

damn dude. thats crazy. hope no one fails, if not gone case man. have to reenter the pool of unis again.

I think my batch will also face such a problem. they said our batch is one of the best. one of the lowest failing rates and all that. but i got a feeling there are more seremban students compared to other batches. so hopefully this wont be a full PMS batch like yours.

btw, judging that some ppl getting 22nd choice. that means alot of people didn't get their top 3, or their top choice ? man, i cant imagine going to Canada sweat.gif

how was your summative chika?

Mines on friday. I feel more prepared than i was for the first summative. hope that helps. i dont wanna see any more C's! hope to get B at the very least this friday. C+ last time damn sad. wanted to see B's.

but i dont really mind just passing my EOS3 already like i just wanted to pass EOS2. smile.gif but obviously with higher grades than B- biggrin.gif

I think its universal that neuroscience and anatomy will turn your brain inside out rclxub.gif , especially when cranial nerves are taught in 2 lectures

seed83 i think i know who ur gf is

after considering current circumstances i'm afraid to say yes, just like what the lady said, it's quite unlikely to get another PMS, mainly due to the fact that all places are already fully taken.

the only more possible way i myself think of is someone failing his or her eos5 and lose his or her place (for those who are supposed to fly in jan or february la) then maybe your gf will stand a chance, though i do hope some other fellow forumers here can offer you other alternatives
