yup you need to call microsoft US to cancel. get ready with all your information... "fake address" you used to register your account

I guess it depends on where your account are registered. Last time when I want to cancel my monthly gold subscription on my Singapore account (because it automatically renew every month), I was asked to call Microsoft Singapore.

wow...the art of conning money...i thought there has to be an option of canceling the gold membership via "easy-access web page" when i created the gamertag initially. So now i've got to make an outstation call just for solving this issue?? Guess i'll use renewal card next time to resume the gold membership...

Btw, what's the phone number to SG's customer service? and what happen if i told them the fake address i use? Sorry...it's the 1st time i encountered such ridiculous matter...

that workaround won't work for regional licensed stuff, mb need to connect via a US proxy.

Those are different problems. If you get the msg "This item is not available in your location" that's the region lockout at work.

the problem i had was the marketplace was totally unavailable, due to some corrupted marketplace file in the hard drive. refer to my post here on how to fix that.

however, this doesn't solve the "This item is not available in your location" problem. i believe that's from the content lockdown they implemented recently. i dont think there's any workaround for this as they are blocking based on IP region (well actually u can do IP tunneling, but i dont know how and i'm not bothering it)

on my xbox (i'm using a US account btw), items that are affected by this are mostly in the video marketplace (movie, tv shows, music videos & trailers), no biggie, but i'll miss those HD+5.1 trailers . i've managed to download "US only" releases like Aegis Wing and Ocean's 13 Theme & Picture (i find this relevant because Ocean's 13 trailer is protected & not available to us), therefore i can safely assume that this content lockdown only affect video marketplace items, not game items, themes & gamerpics.

i haven't seen this in action in other region marketplace so far. i downloaded a music video (guess which one?) from SG video marketplace last night and downloading Trusty Bell/Eternal Sonata demo from JP marketplace right now...

*edit: oops.. i can't be so sure yet, didnt try download a game demo from US marketplace yet. will try that and report back...

Oh youmean the stupid MTV video which the creators doesn't know what is called HD and instead delivered a crappy low resolution video?

I encountered this when i was going to download the GOW free map pack 1 from the marketplace reason is my previous Ex-box was 3ROD-ed and got replaced a brand new unit from Djinn....so i will have to re-download the maps again. What i have tried so far
1) Changed Account Region from Locale to Singapore -> US -> UK -> Jpn -> HK , what i did earlier was i selected my account locale from South Afrika when i was recovering my gamertag (yes i know im too much for selecting irrelevant location )

2) Deleted all MarketPlace Data from HDD -> No luck.

3) Reformatted HDD -> No Luck.

Now i will have to face the reality that i will have to start look for new maps every time Raven Down map is loaded

Which is weird really considering the map pack is only not available in Germany.

The free GoW map shouldn't be region protected from Singapore machines. Unless you have Timbuktu machine!

So does this means if you registered a US acc, chances of getting screwed = higher?

Once we registered to US account, can we change it to another ?? I cant download the new GOW map on my US account. Helpzz

Wassup .. can somebody help me with this. I was a Xbox Live Gold member subcriber but now im back to silver member. When I was a Gold member, I was paying in SG dollars but now, when I wanna renew my Live Gold membership ... but the charge automatically in US Dollars. I have check my region and my address and they are all Singapore.

Can anyone explain to me .. whats wrong?. Thanks
